HALLOWEEN EVENT // The Courtyard

Oct 30, 2009 19:09

The courtyard in front of the Administrative Building and the library now features a very sharp (and fully functional) guillotine that seems to have seen quite its share of use. The fountain, once feeding forth a rain of clean water, now seems to be showering a glowing green goop that's hiding who-knows-what in the depths of the fountain basin. (On ( Read more... )

How very strange. Nia was quite certain that just five minutes ago, she and Simon were walking through the school hallways to the cafeteria for lunch. Granted, she still had a lot to explore and learn about DaiGurren High School, but she was still fairly positive that the double doors labeled 'cafeteria' did not lead to an eerie courtyard with a fountain of green goo ( ... )

Simon wasn't as cool about this. He saw the green goo--ohgoditwaspoisonouswhatifitwasemittingpoisonousfumesandtheydiedorsomething--he saw the setting--thiswaslikeabadhorrormovieAnikiwouldforcehimtowatchwhenhewastryingtostudy--and, of course, he saw the guillotine.

His head darted back and forth trying to take it all in. Okay, so far? He had a) They had been eaten, b) They were not in DaiGurren High anymore, and c) This was totally not his uniform. No, he was dressed in a black suit, now. It looked worn and battered, but still pretty damn sharp. He couldn't see it, but he could feel fangs in his mouth. Whatever was going on, this wasn't normal. Why did it have to be them?!

Not letting go of Nia's hand for a single moment, he started to back away from the guillotine. "W-what--?!"

She felt Simon's hand tugging against hers as he backed away, and she turned to face him. "Is something wrong?" she asked with an innocent and unknowing smile. Yes, Nia had noticed the guillotine.

No, she had no idea what it was used for.

Taking a few circles around the courtyard (and appreciating how well her broom had recovered from the tree-crashing incident a month before), a witch on a broomstick looked down at the scene and cackled. There were only two people on campus who would have been able to tell her apart from the other witches that had flown in overnight, and Akako was taking advantage of that the only way she knew how: by enjoying the night to her fullest.

She flew around the guillotine a few times to pick up speed, then zipped underneath the blade just to see if she could. Her laughter at making it through only grew greater when she noticed that the straw bristles at the end of her broom looked fresh-cut.

Akako paused in midair over the fountain and looked into its depths. She'd always had a fascination with reading the future.

This night had been strange indeed. The campus was covered in fog and there were even more odd individuals on the campus, but as far as he could tell, none of them were dangerous, although it varied on how they reacted to you . He was on his guard nonetheless...

At the sudden change of scenery, Hakkai had decided to see what was around. He'd been drawn right away to the strange contraption in the courtyard. He stood beside it, trying to determine it's purpose and use. It certainly looked like something that would be used to kill people... or things... but people seemed more likely considering it's size. Ah, there was a head hole. So that was it. It chopped off heads. Interesting. Hakkai wondered if it actually worked and couldn't help getting a bit closer to inspect the blade. It seemed sharp... but one couldn't really tell from a distance.

Kazuki looked to see the strange object at that moment. He'd seen a picture of one of these in a book somewhere. It was used to behead those that had committed a particular crime, or for a sick form of entertainment for some leaders who had nothing better to do with their time.

"I wouldn't go too close to that if I were you..." he gave a warning.

Hakkai glanced back at Kazuki, a bit of confusion on his face. "Why's that? Do you really believe it is operational?" he questioned. Hakkai highly doubted that. What purpose would they have for a device of murder at this school? His eyes returned to the blade again. Then again, anything could happen here...
