HALLOWEEN EVENT // The Courtyard

Oct 30, 2009 19:09

The courtyard in front of the Administrative Building and the library now features a very sharp (and fully functional) guillotine that seems to have seen quite its share of use. The fountain, once feeding forth a rain of clean water, now seems to be showering a glowing green goop that's hiding who-knows-what in the depths of the fountain basin. (On ( Read more... )

This night had been strange indeed. The campus was covered in fog and there were even more odd individuals on the campus, but as far as he could tell, none of them were dangerous, although it varied on how they reacted to you . He was on his guard nonetheless...

At the sudden change of scenery, Hakkai had decided to see what was around. He'd been drawn right away to the strange contraption in the courtyard. He stood beside it, trying to determine it's purpose and use. It certainly looked like something that would be used to kill people... or things... but people seemed more likely considering it's size. Ah, there was a head hole. So that was it. It chopped off heads. Interesting. Hakkai wondered if it actually worked and couldn't help getting a bit closer to inspect the blade. It seemed sharp... but one couldn't really tell from a distance.

Kazuki looked to see the strange object at that moment. He'd seen a picture of one of these in a book somewhere. It was used to behead those that had committed a particular crime, or for a sick form of entertainment for some leaders who had nothing better to do with their time.

"I wouldn't go too close to that if I were you..." he gave a warning.

Hakkai glanced back at Kazuki, a bit of confusion on his face. "Why's that? Do you really believe it is operational?" he questioned. Hakkai highly doubted that. What purpose would they have for a device of murder at this school? His eyes returned to the blade again. Then again, anything could happen here...

Kazuki shrugged, glancing at the device. "I'm not sure; however, in the manner in which everything has been changed, it's hard to tell what's real and what's fake"

Hakkai smiled. "That is precisely what I am trying to find out," he informed Kazuki. A moment later he had vaulted up onto the stand of the guillotine. He watched the blade for a moment and then began searching for something to set underneath it.

Kazuki watches Hakkai's motions carefully, then glances over to see a pumpkin as he goes over picking it up and inspecting it. "Will this do?" he asks.

"Wonderfully," Hakkai confirmed as he jumped down to pick up the pumpkin. When he returned to the guillotine he set the pumpkin down and barely managed to get his hands away before the blade came crashing down. Hakkai stared at the device in shock, fingers only a few inches away from the now destroyed pumpkin. "Well, it appears that it is fully functional."

Kazuki sighed shaking his head. "Now will you get down off of that thing before your hand is next?"

Hakkai hopped down, but stood nearby to continue examining it. "You know. That's a rather dangerous thing to have around here. There are quite a few people who would probably assume it's just a toy and get themselves hurt. Something needs to be done about this."

"I agree; however, I think that's supposed to be the idea with all of this...," Kazuki said referring to the rather gloomy looking atmosphere.

"The problem is that it isn't a toy, and could easily kill someone," Hakkai pointed out again. "We need to do something about it regardless of how similar it is to the rest of campus."

Kazuki pondered, "However, even if we were to get rid of this, what's to say there wouldn't be something else somewhere else on campus that could hurt someone just as easily?" he glanced over at the other man.

"Nothing," Hakkai pointed out. "But it's one less thing floating around that's dangerous. You can't get rid of all the dangerous things in the world, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to do what you can."

"Be my guest then," Kazuki made a bit of a mock bow to Hakkai.

Hakkai ignoring the mocking and returned his attention to the guillotine. The best option was probably just to blow it up... the question was, would it work? Only one way to find out. Hakkai concentrated his chi and sent the glowing golden orb flying towards the guillotine.
