So, this showed up in my front yard this morning. We have wild turkeys that wander around, including one who has chicks right now. They like to visit under the bird feeder we have right next to the windows and pick at the seed that's been dropped. Meet the latest newcomers in our feral population. From left to right - Marley-Bird, Jinkies, and Kashmir. They are, at best guess, about 4 months old. We've been working to get them socialized to us. The hope is that in the spring, we'll be able to get close enough to put them in crates to take them to the vet. I've been doing silk arrangements lately, as I can't keep live flowers on the patio and window boxes from being uneaten. After hitting the sales and piling the booty on my work table, it looked like an autumn explosion. One that quickly developed a Niblet in its center.

I stopped to take photos in this lovely old cemetery on my way home today. Many of the gravestones date back to the 1800s. Pretty little place, although largely overgrown. After the last three years, I admitted defeat. The flowerbeds at the front of the house could not be saved from the thistles. Instead, I dug the entire thing out, covering the bare ground with heavy materials to prevent growth, and built raised beds out of brick on top of it. The Niblet is up to 7 lbs. At 4-1/2 months old. He's gonna be a moose. He also has quite the attitude. It is, in fact, an attitude fit for a mountain lion. At his last exam when the vet mentioned he had two fully-descended testicles, I replied, "...Only two?" My life currently revolves around Niblet care and making sure the other cats don't feel neglected. The Niblet is getting bigger; he was a whole 2 lbs. on 2 October and up to 3 lbs. on 8 October, which is about 9 weeks of age. That's a decent growth spurt. I suspect he's going to be a pretty good-sized boy when he reaches his full growth.
