Update on Matt
We finally have the closest thing to a diagnosis for Matt that we're going to get. The doctor's believe that what he has is very similar to something called Stevens Johnson Syndrome. It's a very rare, very serious reaction to a drug, most frequently, the drug allupirinol. What happens is the allergic reaction causes the cells holding the layers ( Read more... ) -
Matt is back in the hospital again.
They've got him on IV fluids and they're running tests to see if they can find the cause of the fever. He's feeling really exhausted and miserable. I'll update when I know more. -
Update on Matt
It's been a bit of a rocky couple of weeks, without a whole lot of answers. He came home from the hospital with a list of seven meds to take, and instructions to follow up at UCLA for tests. Since he came home, we've been to UCLA twice, once to meet the doc and once for the first of his tests. They ran a nuclear stress test in an attempt to rule ( Read more... ) -
Matt has been in the hospital since Thursday night.
Matt has cardiomyopathy. Which basically means one of the inner chambers of his heart is larger than it's supposed to be. They aren't really sure yet what caused this, but they suspect a virus. Once he gets home from the hospital, which will hopefully be tomorrow, he will go over to UCLA as an outpatient for some tests to try and figure it out. We' ( Read more... ) -
Not really surprised....and yet...
I got a call today from Matt's attorney regarding the car accident. He's going to have to file the lawsuit. The insurance company is unwilling to offer more than a possible $20k, which after legal costs would barely cover the medical bills. We are suing to have them cover at least the med bills and the lost income from Matt being on disability ( Read more... ) -

One of the children in Wes's preschool experienced a great tragedy this weekend. Her 16 month old sister died in a tragic accident. It's a horrible thought, for a parent to lose a child just at the beginnings of life. I truly feel terrible for the family. -

Happy thoughts, day 3
Yesterday, Matt and I dropped the kids off at my parents for a couple hours and did some necessary shopping. While at Costco, we managed to find something we've been looking for for a while, and it was only $20. So we bought it, and I get to unwrap it on Christmas. -
Happy moments day 2
The happiest moment of yesterday, was checking on Griffin before I went to bed and not hearing him wheeze. the vaporizor worked wonders last night, and he slept well and breathed easy.
I got to sleep myself, and it was glorious.
