I think my iPod is screwing with my computer. For the last few days the thing has been glitchy and generally irritating - asking me to run the updater, and then just idling there, doing nothing. And gods help me if I try to eject the thing via the desktop explorer.... Recently I've been getting this thing where I try to play a video or copy

I had a similar problem. It was like the updater service did not shut down correctly. I ran the updater, and it never really finished. What I did was use the eject symbol from the systray and removed the ipod. Then I went into the task list and killed all the processed involved with the iPod and iTunes (basically everything starts with an 'i'). Then I reran the updater. That cleared up my problem.

Be aware the update may take a good bit depending on how much is on your iPod.
