Typical India Arrival
had another India city arrival today, which formula consists off: get off train, get hustled by touts and then haggle with rickshaw drivers, get dropped off by rickshaw who spits his paan out and drops me off not anywhere near my guesthouse, have a diva tantrum with non-English speaking rickshaw driver, roar through the streets asking for ( Read more... ) -
Still in India, but no longer still ill
So I have been in India for almost two months and I have 9 days left. I have to say that at this point I am pretty eager to leave. It is a fiercely fascinating country, but with that it is also fiercely frustrating, especially as you go north in the country. The sickies
I gotta hand it to India for doing serious damage to my digestion system. This may be TMI, but since I got food poisoned a week ago my bowels have not gone back to normal. Yesterday and last night, I was completely nauseated and with very loose bowels. I am eating only a fraction of what I did and the thought of most of the food here disgusts me. I ( Read more... ) -
Goan around Goa
Things are still great in India, albeit I did get sick. Something that I was not entirely surprised about, as this is India after all. I guess I got a case of what they call 'Delhi Belly,' which is basically a 24 hour bug of the shits with a bit of vomiting. Getting ready for Goa
I have my train booked tomorrow for India's famed hippie beach enclave Goa, which has inspired a genre or electronic music of the same name. I am not a big fan of train journies, but it really is the way to go in India since the driving and roads are sub par. I would have left earlier, but all the trains are booked. The Mighty Subcontinent
So yes, I am in the place I have been fearing for the duration of my trip. So far things have actually been okay, it has not been the scary place that I thought it would, however it is not like I have been traveling much or at all since I got here. Malaria Meds
So I started my malaria meds today. I will be taking these during my duration in India, plus four weeks afterwords. The good thing is these ones have the added benefit of helping me not get sick from other illness.
