Our new house is in a street of Georgian houses on a hill.  It’s in a conservation area so it has to be kept just so.

The Tubblet has started a one girl campaign for a kitten.  (Previous pet suggestions include polar bears and penguins!)  She wants to hug him, pet him, carry him around and … We’ve tried to put her off the idea by explaining that kittens are A Lot Of Work but she said that would be fine.  (Think we can guess who would be doing the Lots of Work).  ( Read more... )

We went back to our old town for a proper visit this weekend as the Tubblet had been invited to a birthday party.  Walking past our now rented-out house was very strange.  We’ve not met the tenants as everything was done through an agency.  All we know about them is that they’re married and from Eastern Europe.

It is a good idea to check the calendar each night.  This means you don’t send your child off to school dressed in uniform when they are supposed to be dressed as a book character.

It is best not to describe Delia Smith as a “dappy cow” in front of your daughter.  Not unless you want her to chuckle delightedly and then run round the room repeating the phrase at the top of her voice.  Both of us got a telling off from Mr T for using Bad Words.  (I got an extra telling off for Being a Bad Examplel).

The Tubblet, as you can see from the picture on my banner, is a small blond moppet of deceptive cuteness who is in Reception at school.  (Sorry about the pixilation, but it’s a funny old world).

Today it suddenly came to me how wonderful, fabulous and amazing my husband is. Basically the sun does shine out his other end.
