Oh my gosh, you have me so completely terrified. I *hate* the idea of scorpions so much. Whenever I travel to parts of the country where I know they are common, I am scared to death of encountering one.
I know that there are scorpions in Alabama, but I've never seen one and I tend to assume that as long as I stay out of the woods I'm unlikely to come across one.
Apparently we are scorpion magnets, my boss is in his late 40s and lived here all his life and has never seen one.
Honestly? I'll take these over spiders. At least these seem to stay on the kitchen floor and not descend from the ceiling into my crock pot. Not like a spider just did that last weekend or anything. *ahem*
You must be. I went to elementary school on Monte Sano and we played in the woods...digging in the dirt, moving around old trees and rocks, etc. You would think that we would have seen every bug there is to see.
It's the novelty that scares me, I think. And the stinger! And there are scorpions out west that hunt in packs and like to hide in houses and they can KILL YOU. Especially if you're a toddler.
I don't like spiders, either, but at least I know them.
Was the lid on the crock pot at least? Or dinner over? We found a spider in our dog's water bowl yesterday, but your crock pot trumps that.
I was done using it, but I am extremely terrified of spiders, so the whole time it's lowering itself down, I'm freaking out and hollering for the hubby. Then in lands in the damn dish. UGH.
Scorpions are very common here in TX. I've only been stung by a baby before, he'd found a cozy spot inside my sleeping bag on a camping trip. He was only an inch and a half long but damn that sucker hurt!! The guy my husband stays with on his trips down to Austin got stung a few months ago by a flesh-colored scorpion that was hiding out in the carpet under his couch. He ended up having to go to the emergency room because he had a bad allergic reaction. :( Moral of the story: scorpions are bad news. I recommend Ortho Home Defense Max to keep them out of your house.
Thanks for the tip about the Ortho! We usually spray around the house twice a year to keep (most of) the critters out. We're about due for the next round.

So freaked out. I'm never going to sleep tonight.
And congrats on finishing the PE exam. : )

I imagine one of the perks of Canada is that it is too cold for a lot of critters.
