Okay, it rained. The upside of this is that it was a nice gentle rain during the night. I take credit for that because I left the wash on the line and the car window open a crack. Does it every time ( Read more... )

I do admire the way that you can do six impossible things before breakfast! The flowers are delish and the planters wonderful. :D

:D

But not before breakfast! Except today, when I'm out of granola and had to go to the store to get stuff to make more.

I've planted mostly peas. I have climbers at one end where *there will be* a trellis, and bush peas at the other end. In the middle, on either side of a row of purchased marigolds, are broccoli and cabbage.

I don't know what Mary has in hers.

My other one will have mostly carrots and beets, and squash hanging over the sides. The little porch-rail planter in front has lettuce and spinach.

Thank you (about the bathroom); I really like it.

The forsythia is beautiful. I hope it blooms well for you again next year after being cut back.

Love the colors in your bathroom. Very nice.

I miss the forsythia. We used to have huge bushes on the side of our house in NJ. Went to a market up in Houston Thursday and almost cried...they had masses of lilacs. Lilacs are my favorite flower, always have been, and it killed me to leave mine behind, but you can't grow them in Texas. Sigh.

Yes, you are a delicate New England flower transposed to the harsh desert. :D I'm only half-mocking.

Our fosythia here in New Hampshire is absolute gorgeous right now. Lilac is our state flower and my lilac bushes are covered with buds. I'm so sorry you had to leave yours behind. I can imagine how heartbreaking that was.

I grouse a lot about the things I can't grow up here because of the severe winters (I'm in zone 3,) but I tend to forget there are also many things people can't grow because it's too warm where they live. Maybe you can find some new treasures to love that you couldn't grow in New Jersey. I hope so.
