Fic: ‘Tis the Season: ‘Listen to the song of the bells.’

Dec 01, 2011 02:00

Title: ‘Tis the Season: Listen to the song of the bells.
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: (G)
Time Period: tPM.
Summary: Obi-Wan listens.

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

More serious than the usual ‘Tis the Season story, especially at the beginning, but this is what came to mind; a quiet, sweet beginning to this year’s stories.

“To those bells listen you should.”

Blue eyes regard the wizened Jedi Master quizzically.

“Grief you feel but listen to the bells you must.” The deep throated tolling rings gaily about the city. “Died for those bells your Master did.”

The younger Jedi frowns.

“Joy they sing. Freedom and hope.

“To the song the bells sing you must listen.” The older Jedi’s tri-fingered hand flexes on the head of the gimer stick. He studies the new Jedi Knight quietly. “Qui-Gon in them you can hear,” he softly whispers.

The younger Jedi closes his eyes; a deep breath is taken. He calms his heart, his thoughts. Slowly, a smile curves his lips. The older Jedi was right; Qui-Gon is within the ringing bells.

The older Jedi silently nods and closes his eyes to listen.
