FYI - I have finally made some of the flist cutbacks I've been planning. Again, if I cut you and you're upset, feel free to cut me response. I just am not reading everything anymore and I don't feel it's fair to have people friended and not make time to read what they post. In other cases, I've cut people who just aren't posting. So, there you go.
Food rec -- I've been meaning to post about this. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend Hershey's syrup in the new Special Dark Chocolate. This makes your milk a dark purply brown color, but it is soooooooo good. If you like your chocolate milk to be rich, but don't want to add tons and tons of syrup, this is for you. The bottle says it's also good in coffee, which if you drink coffee, I imagine it probably is. Good on ice cream too. Yum.
In dog news -- We took Buddy to some sled dog races that took place over the weekend (national races, over 20 teams of dogs). He was amazing. He didn't pay any attention to the dogs tied up before/after their races. The only dogs he was interested in were the other ones on regular leashes like him. We met a couple who just rescued a Saint Bernard -- Buck. He was adorable, but not quite ready to meet Buddy. He just came from a townhouse with 27 dogs (I was unclear if they were all Saints, or only some, but even just a couple other Saints would be insane for a townhouse). He's not quite 2 years old, weights 125 lbs, and is still growing. His head was huge. I thought Buddy's head was huge, but Buck? His head was freaking enormous. OMG.
So anyway, the couple that took Buck in might not be able to keep him. They took him with no notice so that he wouldn't be put down just for being an extra dog in this house. *weeps* So I gave them my card and if they decide they can't keep him (they're in a 2 bedroom apt. in Denver and already have a Border Collie), they're going to contact us first. And if they do keep him, they're going to keep us informed on his progress and maybe we can have them up this summer once we have the fence done. He was so beautiful.
I've pretty much told Chris that we're getting another dog after Buddy's surgery. Whether it's Buck or a different dog, we'll have another dog sometime next summer.
In other dog news -- I called my mom on Monday for her birthday. We talked about her new pups. She got the Pappillons a few weeks ago and they're now 2 lbs. and just under 2 lbs. each. Mom says they're both about the size of a water bottle, which is insane. I can't imagine having a dog that small. She decided to go with the names Chris came up with -- Boris and Natasha. LOL. I just love those names. Seriously. Boris and Natasha, people. This, coupled with some local ski shop that has a Rocky & Bullwinkle voiced commercial on the radio right now that Chris was imitating on the ski lift the other day, just keeps cracking me up. Anyway, Boris and Natasha are doing really good. She's learning to walk on a leash (although only in the house, because the snow is deeper than they are tall) and he is excelling at the potty training. Hopefully they'll each acquire the other's skill soon. :)
