Drabble Project: Day Four

Apr 25, 2011 19:47

So, I did not skip yesterday’s drabble stuff. I wrote stuff yesterday, long actual fic stuff. Since I did that, I didn’t drabble. Now I’m back on drabble track, thinking of other interesting things to do with drabbles and dice. Whee!

Previous Days
Day One
Day Two
Day Three

Title: Messy Business
Prompt: brings_to_light + AU!High Fantasy

“Well, at least the ballad will make this look glorious.” Sir Ithuriel offered his brother a hand, pulling him from the pool of dragon icor that was slowly spreading over the ground.

Sir Michael grunted then spat out blood and dragon guts. “Do leave out the part where it almost sat on us, yes?”

“As you wish, brother.”

Title: Beyond Suspicion
Prompt: goteam_magic + AU!Detective

Dave fidgeted in his seat. The two detectives were watching him across the table. One of them, Detective Winchester, was scowling at him. Detective Devine was reading some files. He bounced his foot, nerves building with every second. He knew what they were doing. He had seen tons of Law & Order episodes. They were going to wait until he cracked. They’d let his nerves make him talk. He hadn’t thought it would work. Man was he wrong.

“Okay, look, I broke into the lab yes but I totally didn’t know there was a dead guy in there! I just needed to use the equipment!”

---
Title: Go Get It Boy
Prompt: simplyguy + Friendship

“Fetch.” His friend throws his beer bottle from the porch. It goes sailing into the woods where it smashes against a tree, the last of the beer staining the bark.

He punches his friend in the shoulder. “Asshole.”

His friend throws back his head and laughs. Guy refuses to smile even though it is rather amusing.

Title: It’s Always The Cute Ones
Prompt: givesapush + AU!Mutant

Will is a cute guy. He comes to the bar, orders a beer and sits there until it’s finished. Sometimes his friends join him. Dani likes to flirt with him, even though it makes him blush. One night when he goes to leave she takes her break and rushes out the back door, running around the front to catch up to him.

“Let’s get Chinese tomorrow,” she says when she catches him.

He looks at her, smiling a little. “Are you asking me out?”

“Yup. You should say yes.”

“Ah…” he stops and she stops. There’s two men in suits coming towards them. She notes Will looks rather panicked.

“Let’s go now.” He grabs her by the wrist and pulls.

“What?”

The two men start running towards them. Will swears. He throws a hand out towards them and they fly back like they’ve been hit by a truck. She only has a second to gape before Will starts running, dragging her with him.

Title: No Evidence
Prompt: tele_military + AU!Weird West

This time when her husband hit her, Jennifer hit him back. Breathing through the pain and the sting in her cheek, she looked at him and he went sailing into the far wall.

“Go on, dear,” she sneered at his shocked expression. “Strike me again. Lay a hand on me. What are you going to tell the authorities? That I hit you?”

She got to her feet, drawing herself up. “I’ve never laid a hand on you and I never will. Thanks to Revelation, I don’t have to.”

---
Title: Long Lost
Prompt: manofclay + AU!Detective

Detective Winchester’s gun hand was shaking, Clay noted. That made him feel slightly more confident about this encounter. Maybe he could get away before the detective found out he was a wanted federal fugitive. Wouldn’t that be his lucky fucking day?

“Who are you?”

“Tom Williams,” he lied. That was what his fake ID said at least.

“Bullshit!” The detective took a few steps towards him. “Who the fuck are you!”

“Detective…”

The gun pressed against his temple as the detective closed the distance between them, something dangerous flashing in his eyes. “Who the fuck are you and why the fuck do you look like my father?”

---
Title: Wasting Away
Prompt: planted_author + Angst

New York is killing him. Mike walks through Central Park every morning, during lunch and every night but it’s not enough. He can’t feel nature like he needs to. He’s lost fifty pounds since moving here. He has no appetite, no drive, no desire. His writing is terrible. Ever since the success of The Trains of Calcutta, he hasn’t had any ideas, any drive.

“Where would we go?” he asks, looking over his shoulder at Jim who is lounging under his heat lamp. “You hate winter and I hate the city. We’re not moving to the desert.”

He looks back at the city that is killing him. “But we have to move.”

---
Title: Sweetheart
Prompt: singlesoccermom + Humor

“Face is in love with me,” she says over breakfast one morning. Hannibal raises an eyebrow at her while he sips at his coffee.

“What? You didn’t think I noticed?” She scoffs and shakes her spatula at him. “You should know better.”

“I do.”

“Face doesn’t know I know though.” She goes back to the omelet she’s making. She felt like omelets this morning. Probably because they were discussing France for their honeymoon. She sighs happily at the thought.

“Let’s not tell him,” Hannibal says, smirking. “It’s rather funny to see the kid mooning over you.”

---
Title: Cop Buddy Flick
Prompt: lieu_murphy + Friendship

“Key lime pie?” Harry looks at her, surprised.

Murphy ignores him and watches the baker carefully cuts a slice free from the pie. She hasn’t eaten anything since she got the call at four am. She needs a boost, a delicious pie boost.

“I would’ve thought you were more a… apple pie kind of girl.”

“Are you sure you’re a private eye?” She asks, almost bouncing on the balls of her feet as the slice is carefully put into a to-go box.

“That’s what my badge says. You know how useless those things are.”

She laughs and then elbows him. “Shut up, Dresden.”

---
Title: Royally
Prompt: sniffsniffsnipe + Suspense

“Well, what a pleasant surprise. The traitor and my daughter. This will solve so many problems.”

Ian stares at the Pusher who killed his mother, his mind reeling at being caught and at the fact that he’s looking at Dani’s father.

They were both royally fucked.

Author’s Notes: I don’t think I have anything to say this time. I mean, there’s nothing really new here. This was the easiest set of drabbles I’ve ever written though. They really flowed this time. I like when things flow.
