Because it's training time for all the cool kids.

Kunzite has stubbornness, but he lacks Zoisite's effortless resistence. Where emotions or worries are thrust away from the wall Kunzite erects around himself, they seem to simply melt away in the face of Zoisite's calm ( Read more... )

The sight is familiar. And yet it's obviously new for her.

The clothes, the hair, are all wrong, different. But the voice, the stern expression and the movements as he trains are just like the ones she knows. Kunzite, the one and only, doesn't seem to change much between worlds besides physically. It's different than with Zoisite, the man was similar and yet different from the one she knows, thought it could be due the age difference. It makes her wonder what appearance do her alternates have, are they blond girls or something ( ... )

He's not Zoisite (that comparison again) to sense the presence of their master's alternate so easily. If he knew who she was, he'd be more polite from the start. As it is, he isn't rude, precisely; but Kunzite eyes Masako appraisingly, judging the strength of her body and form from her posture.

"Can you use a sword?" he asks.

Masako nods, trying to keep down her pride side from showing, she manages it except for a proud smirk that comes to her lips.

"I'm confident that I can, I was taught by the bests;" the pride doesn't show in her tone though it's obvious that she's more than just confident, she's definitively sure. And her voice does seem to inflate a bit at the mention of her mentors in sword fighting.

"Oho?" His own pride rushes up to meet hers, because he is the best - and of course he has no way to know that's precisely what she means, yet.

"Let's test that." He won't mind giving an upstart, cocky girl a lesson. It bring back thoughts of the past, of Endymion's arrogant confidence - and just how often Endymion ended up bested in their practices despite it.

She wonders if tardiness is something she should change as well, try to improve and such. Maybe she should ask Mercury, thought as things are she supposes that to get rid of her rash nature and tunnel vision is more important. Then again, if she is late to save the planet all her work would go to the drain, right ( ... )

Kunzite lifts up a silent prayer for patience before turning to face the princess.

"Evidently," he answers her dryly as he comes to rest. "And how did you arrive here?" He knows, of course, that it's the nexus - or should be. But he wants to hear her say it. Or see how she'll avoid it if she doesn't.

"I release you from training on my account," Kunzite says with a little flourish that he somehow makes mocking. He's not slow to notice she claims to be trained by his alternate, however. This helps him put together the distinctive hairstyle and her face. The princess.

He knows Zoisite is there; of course he does. That presence makes Kunzite's lips lift into a wry smile even as he maintains the perfection of his training form.

"Zoisite," he calls out easily, without missing a step, "Has your piano begun to bore you?" The tone is good-natured, even teasing.

"How rare." Still Kunzite makes no pause in his movements. Some of the words come over his shoulder, others face to face. "Should I be prepared to face you?"

It's been some time since they've fought together; Kunzite rarely commits the sin of forcing Zoisite to adopt the more immediate means of combat he uses himself.

It takes a lot to catch Kunzite off-guard: earthquake, fire, famine, flood... Jadeite appearing suddenly as if in answer to his thoughts. He pulls up short.

"Jadeite?" Where were you? He can't make the words leave his mouth.

"You've returned." He manages to make the words sound like that faint, wry amusement, as if Jadeite was simply late to join him here in training.

"The nexus." He speaks the words with no thankfulness for its habit of disrupting everything around him. He looks again at Jadeite, and fancies that he sees tiny differences, miniscule changes.

"Welcome to this world." The tone is slightly blander than it should be as his mind races to find the equally miniscule hints to tell him where this Jadeite stands: with the master, or...?

He's aware of a watcher immediately. Trained senses let the faint suspicion of hostility reach him, but when Kunzite turns sharply to look.... He's never seen the person in front of his eyes before. He tilts his head back, looking more carefully, but no recognition dawns.

"Who are you?" he asks directly.

That name, too, means nothing to him, and Kunzite accepts it equably, with a neutral nod.

"Of the Earth Kingdom, one of the shitennou, Kunzite." He introduces himself formally simply as identification. But dark eyes linger on Saffir, gauging his reaction.
