Kunzite has stubbornness, but he lacks Zoisite's effortless resistence. Where emotions or worries are thrust away from the wall Kunzite erects around himself, they seem to simply melt away in the face of Zoisite's calm ( Read more... )

He knows Zoisite is there; of course he does. That presence makes Kunzite's lips lift into a wry smile even as he maintains the perfection of his training form.

"Zoisite," he calls out easily, without missing a step, "Has your piano begun to bore you?" The tone is good-natured, even teasing.

"How rare." Still Kunzite makes no pause in his movements. Some of the words come over his shoulder, others face to face. "Should I be prepared to face you?"

It's been some time since they've fought together; Kunzite rarely commits the sin of forcing Zoisite to adopt the more immediate means of combat he uses himself.

A part of him does not believe Zoisite is really here for nothing, no reason but to take the air, no matter how much he's probably enjoying the light breeze. Perhaps Zoisite is also lonely.

Kunzite decides to bring up a different subject instead. With the master and princess married, the future should also be discussed.

"Zoisite, when the master has an heir, what will you do?" What is their role towards a potential prince or princess, with no Earth Kingdom and a master who prefers that life of normalcy?

"You will coddle him into a weakling," Kunzite predicts a dire fate for the boy that sheltered. But he takes Zoisite's true meaning well enough; of course they would not let a son of the master's be harmed. But it troubles him, still, in a way he can't put into words: what are they in this new world?

Only Zoisite would dare turn Kunzite's words on him, and for a second a grin of Kunzite's own threatens to overtake his face at how normal this all seems, like something out of the far distant past. He keeps his features smooth and stern, however, now deliberately to tease Zoisite in return.

"I would have you help to make him a warrior, not a merchant."

"You've seen the senshi fight," Kunzite points out casually. Gender has never excluded them.

"There can be no doubt she'd be capable with the right training." He has almost the same pride one might expect if they were discussing his own future offspring.

"No." Kunzite scowls in denial. They would never be capable. Not of bringing up a child the way he would want them brought up.

It might be noted that he doesn't seem to be considering that the prince and princess might have their own wishes for their child's upbringing. And besides, they are speaking of the heir to Earth.

"We will not be shut away from our own heir by the Moon."
