There's nothing to change one's self-perception like having a child abruptly arrive in one's life. Suddenly one feels very... adult.

*Nod* And although I won't closet myself for an adult, Kidlet is the one person I'd do it for, if there were no other option.

I don't think there's any reason people need to closet themselves for children... they can be exposed to various aspects of the larger whole as they come up. Although Honey and I lead a pretty heteronormal life, she has met various people who don't, and we have watched movies that involved such things (actually, "Rent" pretty much handled that) and at no point has she ever questioned the acceptability or the validity of alternative sexualities and relationships. Children seem more than happy to accept "this is love" or "that is how @ and @ are happy". I think it's the best time for them to learn... even if it does lead to the occasional questionable comments in front of non-accepting adults...

I like having a freaktastic sister. I just hate that I work around a bunch of stick up the bum bible-thumpers who can't handle the thought of women having an opinion let alone being you.

(I had one coworker express interest in meeting the family... I think you'd melt is poor little conservative brain... so now I'm tempted to introduce you!)
