There were several articles about which I found myself ranting, so I've pulled them into a separate post. It's very likely I'm going to piss off a lot of people with this one, but I think it's stuff that needs saying. ( Read more... )
Absolutely nothing in this post that offends me, rather it's more or less the same structure I believe, though I do believe in very limited use of the death penalty

And it's doubly amusing how flabbergasted the Christians are after they compliment you for being a good Christian and you reveal your true spiritual orientation. I keep waiting for heads to explode. Been close a couple of times, but no satisfying kabooms yet.
*chuckle* Indeed. I struggle with that, though. When to bother to correct people, when not to. I generally try to walk a middle line; I'll casually correct misapprehensions when it works with the interaction, but won't go out of my way to backtrack a very brief interactions just to clarify.
To the bonus rant, may I just add that I'm sick and tired of those right-wing nutter alleged Christians who give nice tolerant mutant Christians such as myself a bad name? I call myself a mutant Christian because I'm really more of a HinJuChrisBud that believes in letting my actions speak for my beliefs rather than the standard mainstream Christian who spends so much time telling the world what a good person they are while acting like a spoiled narcissistic brat that cares only for their gain. (It's wordy I know, but the topic requires that.)
*nod* I get frustrated about that, too. I was raised Episcopalian, and it's a denomination that tends toward an approach to Christianity for which I still have a great deal of respect. I'm an atheist despite my experiences with organized religion, not because of them, and I know a lot of those kinds of Christians.
It's incredibly frustrating to see people like that murderous fuckwad be lumped in with me simply because they claim to be Christian while acting like anything but. Again, I'll take my mutation and my atheist, agnostic, non-Christian friends over those who feel the need to trumpet their Christianity to the world.
Ironically, in a recent dream I had, my incredibly conservative parents found my kinky friends to be some of the most courteous, respectful people they'd ever met. And yet, I knew in my dream (just as I do in real life) that the moment they discovered the truth about my chosen family, my parents would modify their opinions of these people simply because of what they do in the relative privacy of their homes.

It reminds me a bit of my feelings in the political world; there are plenty of people who fall into the "Get off my damned side, you're making us all look bad!" category for me.

I was really lucky that my folks have been very accepting in that regard. And because of the pervasiveness of negative/judgmental associations with Christianity, most people are especially shocked by this because my folks are very religious, and Dad's a priest; my friends love

Thank you; that really means a huge amount to hear.
In terms of the escorts, it's a bit hard for me to guess where exactly their boundaries are, but I know any kind of positive interaction means a huge amount to us when we're out. I think the water would likely be very much appreciated.

Must be nice to be so new to being held to account for one's actions.
