Pet-friendly rentals in NDG

My boyfriend and I may be relocating for work to Montreal. We're both young professionals and we currently own a house in West Quebec (where we live with our cat and our medium-sized dog). Although we'd like to buy, most of the condo apartments we're finding seem to be co-props, which makes us a bit nervous, and so we're leaning towards renting an ( Read more... )

Try rentmtl.com, I frequently see ads for apartments in NDG and the Monkland area there.

I've been looking for the same, a pet friendly 4.5 in NDG for my girlfriend and I. You wouldn't believe how difficult it is to find.

All of the places we saw that were pet friendly were outdated, in bad condition but cheap or the complete opposite and costing close to 1.2k which is a lot by Montreal standards.

We're looking for something under a grand in the area you're also looking into. I'm hoping more things come up during the coming month because we're getting fed-up of looking.

Best thing to do, walk around the neighborhood, you'll see signs up that aren't posted on any website. Good luck!

Thanks for this info. It's encouraging to hear that I'm not the only one in this situation.

Best of luck on your search!

heh, to both the op and you- I just posted an ad in this community for a 4 1/2 in NDG very close to Monkland village, which is pet-friendly. I'm looking for someone May 1 but if that doesn't suit you there's other apartments in the building that have the usual July 1 start.

Oh I wish you all the best. My husband and I have two cats and have had the same problem. But it seems like landlords and dogs are just two things that don't go together well. My suggestions to you are either a) if you have the money, buy a condo, or better yet, a co-propritere (spelling?) i.e like those old buildings on the plateau or b) make sure you get a really good reference from your landlord, even typed if possible and have them sign it and bring a copy to each place you see ( ... )

Thanks. I have really noticed that rents have gone up quite a bit recently. However, in Ottawa, rents are pretty ridiculous, so I don't have a problem paying a bit more.

Thanks again and best of luck on your search!

Keep in mind when you see those dogs, particularly around Monkland village, there are a whole lot of privately owned home on the backstreets there. A whole huge lot.

I feel super lucky to be in the building I am in. My landlords are dog people and are partial to renting to dog owners. I'm not in NDG tho, I'm in the point.

Yeah, I realize that it's likely the homeowners with the dogs, but I still hope that there's a dog-friendly place out there. :-)

I'm happy to hear that there are dog-friendly landlords out there!

Where do you live (if you mind me asking)? I assume that the area is dog-friendly too...?

I was thinking exactly that. Monkland village is uber yuppy, and for people who can afford condos in the 275K range, anything is possible...
