A post on a personal journal has prompted this question, and I thought this would be a fine group of people for the discussion ( Read more... )

I'd try my hand at carrying on in whatever language my partner preferred, if they asked, & I could speak a little (this is a longish list, languages I know well enough that I could learn to talk dirty in them). Up to now, though, I've only had sex with Anglophones & one very bilingual Francophone, & with the latter, though we did sometimes speak French to each other in passing (mostly smart remarks, or like, conversations that included other Francophones), sex was entirely English as far as I can recall.

Interesting question, though, & one I've wondered about myself, particularly because my other second language is a minority language slowly being edged out by English, & I've wondered what language a native speaker would use in the bedroom. It doesn't have dirty words for anatomy (that I can think of), so sex talk would be pretty straightforward.

I had a guy who would slip into Chinese when we were together. That just really didn't do anything for me and was more amusing than anything!

um... my mother tongue is armenian, but i fuck in english. and sometimes in french, it's kinda sexy, but it's not as dirty. i get a bit more giggly because it doesn't come as naturally, though i speak french fluently. i'd throw some spanish in there too if i knew i wouldn't get super amused. but if a sexy spaniard wants to call me mi amor and whatnot in bed, i'd melt.

Spanish sex sounds super hot!

I've never heard Armenian spoken. I should research this....

I use spanish too but rarely, it's my mother tongue. Again, same as French, it's just too vulgar or too proper. It's hard to say much in the same way as I do in English, besides like you pointed out before, porn is in English and those guys have the best lines!! LOL

armenian is really, really unsexy. i speak armenian every day with my family, but sex? nah. i also blurt out random armenian words to people i'm really close to who aren't armenian.

Wow, what an original thread! ;) To answer the question, I'm francophone so sex in English also equals "porn"... in a good way. But the last time I was with an anglo, he let me know that switching back to French was ok and he even learned a few words... ;)

I'm a francophone, but my first boyfriend spoke English, so we always conversed in English, bedtime included.
My current boyfriend is a francophone, mostly bilingual, and sometimes I want to say things in English because "plus fort" sounds odd to me, and asking for a spank is even stranger, but we always speak French together, so it'd sound weird/fake if I did so.

I'm a very bilingual Anglophone (some people don't even notice that I have an accent), but everyone I'm involved w/ right now is either Francophone or a Franglophone who spends most of their time speaking in English. We tend to speak in English w/ perhaps a quarter, or maybe at the most, a third of our conversations slipping into & out of French. Oddly, I find I'm the one who initiates the French more often than not (especially w/ the real Frenchy). We even tend to text in English, despite the fact that I am absolutely convinced French is the most text conducive language out there. I'm not at all sure why this is.
Any hoo, sex almost always seems to end up happening in English, but on the odd occasion, one of us will say something like "viens ici" or "suce moi". Though, again, it's usually me.
