Grabass?

Aug 13, 2010 00:09

Last night I went to a bar and some guys there decided to start playing grabass. As in reaching over, grabbing my ass, and then whistling dixie like they have nooooo idea who did it. This happened about a half dozen times with varying levels of my disappointment relayed to them ( Read more... )

This happened to me at Unity a couple weeks ago. It happened to me at Karaoke Box a while ago as well. I'm not big on bars, but when I do go, I've noticed it happening more.

I don't know what's up with it, but I don't like it.

Yeah. I normally prefer that but Mister got the idea in his head it would be a great idea to go OUTSIDE which yeah, valid. Still. I felt so gross, like I was fruit at a market someone was feeling deciding if it was the right firmness and consistency to take home :-/

This has never happened to me (don't go out much anymore), but if it did, and more than once no less, the bouncer would probably throw me out because I punched the offending douchebag in the face.

I swear, if it had been any other bar, I probably WOULD have been thrown out for what I actually said to him and the ensuing drama that followed. But they know me there, and my husband, and they don't know these dudes who were there, and they're used to bar fights.

See? This kind of juvenile behaviour bugs the crap out of me because guess who has to bear the ultimate retribution of all women being harassed like that ( ... )

I'm sorry to hear that you have that experience. But, don't you think that putting all women into one box is the same problem that you are experiencing, i.e., women who put all men into one box?

All things being equal, and given the assumption that we are all free-thinking human beings; yes, it is wrong of me to place all women in one box. But unfortunately, a bar is not a place where free-thinking rational behavior is common place. It's like driving in this city...I have to expect that at least one person is going to be an asshole and that I am going to be the unfortunate soul that will encounter that asshole. It presents a social nuance where I am treated as a hostile for the crime of being a male stranger. But I don't blame the woman for that. It's the countless jerks that the woman encountered before encountering me that are to be blamed. Now add alcohol, tight spaces and juvenile jerks like the OP experienced to the equation and I can guarantee you, I am getting a "Fuck off" by the end of the night.

I want a basement bar as well. Actually, I'd like it to be top floor and then have a terrasse. Obviously only cool people can come.

To be fair to you, I have noticed there are a lot of nasty bitchy women in this town. If it helps, they probably would have told me to fuck off for asking them to move too.
