Three weeks, now, until retirement. Apparently we’ve had a good response to our job posting for my replacement, but the Library hasn’t acted on any yet. I have joked about the description of my ‘duties,’ that I wouldn’t bid on the position due to its complexity. But that is because the job grew with and around me over the years, so what I made it

Gelatin and mayonnaise … oh my!

I hope you won't have to quite give up your lavish lifestyle so far. It's kind of a shame this is even necessary, isn't it? You'd think after working all your life you'd get to be worry-free in your old age at least.

There was a trend in the 50’s and 60’s where folks would prepare shredded vegetables, cabbage and carrots and the like, along with Jello. This would go into the molds (fluted pans, generally) and be served with Miracle Whip or Mayonnaise. I have an old Joy of Jello recipe book, somewhere, with lovely illustrations of these creations. Heh, the images remind me of head cheese (Sülze)….

And if I had planned better I would have more savings. But I’m certainly not destitute, and should be able to live at a comfortable level still. I work with folks who live in motel rooms because they cannot afford apartments :o(

The wintergreen in the wild was intriguing! Home made chewing gum is next!

It's sounding like, if they haven't taken much action yet, they might only desire a detailed sheet describing your job tasks for the next person... or maybe they plan to throw you some coin after-the-fact to train someone for a few days... dunno.. they sending puzzling vibes!

Indeedy when you think of how often you might really utilize some things, .. paring down ain't so bad... ^v^

We had just discussed the jello/vegetable/miracle whip creations last weekend and this was so appropriate.

We have a lot of Wintergreen here, and I do love Wint-O-Green Lifesavers, but have never tried making anything of the plants.

I’ve given a fairly thorough description to our Director, mainly because I felt I was working in stealth mode with the computers and all. I’ve tried to document my activities as well. *snicker* Here’s the want ad as published on the State Library site-

And not that it matters, but I was also head of building maintenance with a dedicated custodial staff of one! Not sure what they’ll do with that.

The new router was a breeze to hook up, of course. My WiFi speed even improved: 21 mbps, which was indeed adequate , is actually now over 300!
