Batgril#5 is out. As much as I want to like hte new Batgirl, I can't. It reminds me so much of Ultimate Spiderman and I never liked Spiderman in any form. People seems to like it, and since it's the only title that has Babs as a co-star, I hope it sell well. Stephanie Brown is a character that leaves me with a 'meh' feeling, but add some Damian

*nods* I read Batgirl for the same reason. I really don't care who's Batgirl, but in my opinion, Miller isn't the best writer out there. I have a problem with the 'light' feeling I get from the title.
Okay, I don't want all my comics to be the angst fest that is Red Robin (although Red Robin is on of my favorite titles), but this Spidey feeling is hard to swallow.

But, I guess we can look at it as, this is just the beginning and maybe it is only a matter of time before the angst returns, you know?

But I have to say that I liked the last two issues better than the first so I'm giving the title the benefit of doubt.

And we have to remember, at first, when Babs was Batgirl, she wasn't really trained either. Which is why Babs probably wants Steph as Batgirl. She wants to train her because she's probably reminded a bit of herself way back when.
...and I kinda hate Damian, and this will never end. Stupid entitled fucking brat needs to be brought down a notch or five. >:O

As for Damian, well, I used to hate him, but he's growing on me. I think the entitled brat thing is mostly an act to hide how scared and lost he is, or maybe I'm just holding out for Dick to have not been a complete idiot in deciding to work with him, and really, sometimes Damian just has the best lines.
And, I guess I'm done with my rant on the characters. :P

About Damian, I think he's angry and confused and he's just a little boy. A very creepy little boy with obsessions, but a little boy that plays the man.

But I also think Steph needs to be cyt some slack here. She took the time to get a profile of the bad guy before actually attacking him (by figuring out his blood was gasoline). And then Dick and Damian jump in and take over without even asking if she had any intel. Then don't listen when she tries to tell them about the bad guy. And it takes Damian cutting him open for them to realize.
Plus I image that the freez-a-rangs aren't exactly precision, Steph may have no actually hit Damian, he just got forzen because he was standing on top of the big dude who he'd just cut up and was about to burst into flames.
And then he stalks her at school, insults her and she just tries to reach out to him. I just think people need to cut Steph a bit of slack.

I can understand that, I have characters that I don't care about. Like Beryl. I don't like her but I am not completely against her either.
But the only other option was letting Damian explode! As much as I would have preferred Damian to get exploded, Steph had to stop it.
He's been trained since he was like, 2. Steph has only had weird sporadic training and mixed signals from all her mentors and the people she trusts.
But I do agree that Steph needs to mature, and I think that Batgirl has the potential to do that. Its only a few issues in, and she's already acting (at least a little) more responsible than she has before. It's character development, and it would help the series develop.

I don't know. My dad would freak out a bit if I was going out with a younger guy, but his daughter was Batgirl and is now Oracle so I guess that her going out with younger guys is the least of Gordon's problems.
If Damian explodes I will lose any respect I have for DC :( Seriously, I love the little brat! If someone told me that I was going to love the brat I would had laugh so hard people on the other side of the world would hear me. How time change minds :)
Yeah! *nods* As Batgirl, Steph is more mature than her Spoiler days. I didn't like that at first they made Barbara look bad just to make Steph look better, but right now I think that they have a balance. At least the characters are not acting OOC, like Cass in #1.
And the art is better now so that's a plus!

And you are right! He's like Jason, but more likable. The kid's grandfather is Ra's. I think that's enough to justify his actions. Wouldn't you be mad at the world if Ra's was your family? :P

Totally agree with the Red Hood comment. After the Red Hood Jason went from the dead Robin to uber badass status.
And now not only we have a Red Hood animation movie, but also a six issues mini series. What more to ask? :)
