You had complaints?novembersguestJuly 23 2006, 17:29:04 UTC
Hmm. I thought it was pretty good, myself. However, I do understand about getting stressed over it. I teach rather than attend as a student, so that isn't my particular problem. However, I don't like to do anything unless it's going to be good. Therefore, I get anxiety every time I get ready to post a new chapter afraid it isn't good. And, I have thought about going back and redoing my first 4 chapters, too. I'm not sure it was my best work.
Still, I really, really liked your last chapter. But you have to do what makes YOU most comfortable. You are the one who needs to be satisfied with it because, in the end, its YOUR story. Sometimes, following the advice of your reviewers isn't what's always best for the story. I had to learn that this last week. Thankfully, some good friends talked me out of posting the chapter I had originally wrote in response to some reviews and in the end, I think we are all much happier with the way it turned out. I know I am. Does this mean you will post the entire thing once you're finished?

Everyone's so supportuve, it's awesome =D Yeah, I know the story isn't bad, but it's not coming out like I'd originally planned and sometimes I just need to step back and see where I've lost focus. Whether it be in terms of story or style or both (in this case I think it's style which is actually effecting the story).

I didn't see anything wrong, I enjoyed them from a readers point of view.
But saying that I understand that you have to be happy with what you have written. Take your time, post when you are ready and then I'll start from the beginning again :-)
Here. *dumps gigantic box of mangled fics, started fics, half-finished fic, and assorted plot bunnies on desk* You can take a break from your stuff and work on my stuff. It's a mess and I don't know what to do.
What? Why are you laughing like that? Why are you laughing and pointing?
No, really--here. *pushes box closer* They're yours. Please. Take them. *scoops up escaping bunny and deposits it back in box* It will be...theraputic. Yeah! It will take your mind off your fic. *uses stick to beat back mangled fic mid-escape*
I know whatever you come up with will be worth the wait, so no nagging from me. Take your time and find your enjoyment of writing again.
Just one thing: After all, writing fanfic is about writing for an audience. Speaking as a beta reader and a author-handholder, it's also about writing for yourself. It has to make you happy.
Yeah, that's true, and that's why even though people were enjoying the story I was still unsatisfied...I've already rewritten part of it and am much happier! Thank you for the support!

You don't have to start from the beginning - I'll write up a post letting people know if there are any drastic changes :)
