Junie Can Open Doors!

I tried to post this yesterday, but the circle just kept going around. I was in the kitchen and saw her reaching up to the workroom door -- where her balls sometimes go under the door. I saw her actually get it open and dashed as quickly as I could and yelled and she came out. I told her she couldn't go in and she complained thoroughly. I've ( Read more... )

Our Boots can't work a doorknob, but he clearly does know what they're for. If he's been waiting at the front door for (what he deems to be) too long, he'll stand up on his hind legs and wrap his forepaws around the knob, but he can't get enough traction to turn the rather stiff knob. If we had European-style door handles, he would totally be letting himself out on his own.

Sympathies on the thermostat -- that does not sound like fun times.

One of the cats that came with me 21 years ago had no problems with the front door (and I didn't let him out), but the other lock kept him in. Junie is very tall, which is why she can turn the lock easily, and I don't care if she opens the hallway closet. She can't open the other lock on the front door, but I can't let her into the workroom -- she'd probably eat something and die. I wish she'd play with larger balls.

When the temp got down to 80, I reset the thermostat and everything's been fine since!

Isn't it? And tomorrow the early morning will be very cold with enough rain to make everything ice. I bet a lot of schools close. Then Tuesday-Thursday will be in the 60s and after that, back to the 30s.
