smutmas recs.

It happened today as it does every other year when I reach a certain point and I realize that I really don't like Christmas. I don't mean to come off as Scrooge-like or ungrateful. It's just a certain point I start to break. It's the shopping and the post office runs and the card writing and the cookie baking and the "When am I going to get all ( Read more... )

Yes! I'm taking a short break from writing since Jen gave me an extension to 1/15. I'm probably going to get back to work later tonight or tomorrow.:-)

Oh, these recs sound great. I have been so swamped with real-life holiday obligations, I haven't had a chance to read any fic in a week! But after Friday, I am off until the new year -- and my only plans are to curl up with my laptop and catch up on reading and writing! Yay!

okay, i feel like something must be off with my h/d tastes because everyone seems to be reccing that moon fic to high heavens but i'm feeling more than meh about it. i mean...i couldn't even read three paragraphs of it without going, "okay, backbutton now!". i skimmed the rest and....yeah, not impressed.

Well, it definitely reads more as a Draco piece than a h/d one. It's very much all Draco and therefore it could almost qualify as gen save for the last few thousand words. I'm not going to try to sell someone on something they know they won't like, and from what I've gathered via a few offline conversations is that the prevailing thought is the author is not an h/d-writer, which is why it may ping off to someone more used to current h/d conventions. Personally, however, I've been thirsting for more Draco-centric pieces and have grumbled here a few times about the dearth post-hbp h/d fics, so it was exactly up my alley.

oh yeah, i agree that this isn't really an h/d piece, but rather draco gen with some sex thrown in. i'm sure the story would have been just fine without the few times harry and draco get off with one another, but that obviously doesn't work for smutmas. i don't mind draco-centric pieces, but i like it when draco is a little less, er, bastardly, i have to say.

Thanks for the recs, I'm woefully behind on my fest reading too!

As for wrapping presents, I love doing it. Crazy, huh? :-)

I thought I'd be methodical about it and go back to the beginning of the fest and read forward, but I'm just skipping around now, and tagging people's recs. I'm also trying to read all the h/d ones first.

I don't mind wrapping presents. I just have too much to do:-(

Yes, that character death warning did keep me from reading it, because I just can't get into fics where either of them die.

So.

Should I still read it?

Neither of them die. It's a secondary character. I can tell you who if you want.
