I have money. It is in a bank account with Barclays, one of the UK's largest banks, and tied to a Visa debit card, an international standard. I've paid a number of US companies for various services; my statement here includes 'This transaction was for USD 23.44'; I can pay in US dollars ( Read more... )

WTF? The WoW beta test finished two days ago and it should go on sale in the UK, like, tomorrow, right? I mean, I've heard it goes on sale here tomorrow, and Australia is much further away from the economic centres of gravity than the UK. Why would it not be on sale there?

The UK is part of Europe; this means that we have to wait for the localisation (despite the fact we speak English), and for them to set up EU servers (I want to play on the US servers, however). WoW is coming out in Europe in about February.

Blizzard are not being very helpful to Europeans who want to play on the US servers; a lot of people have friends of guilds on the US servers, but you have to have a US billing address to be able to use them. Hence the need for an annoying PayPal system to pay for a subscription.

Amazon.com would have been my best bet since they're happy to take payment and ship anywhere, but bizzarely they're not accepting sales of WoW at the present time.

I should note, by the way, that a delay of three months is actually quite small for MMORPGs. FFXI wasn't on sale here until about a year after the US release.

*eeks!* I would help ya but then comes the issue on having money converted. I've heard you can do it in banks but I don't have an account in one, at least not yet anyways.
