Bruce hadn't said anything, had merely called each of them and apologized--briefly--for his behavior, asked them to come back. Clark had gone to each of them individually and explained how much Bruce missed them and how deep his regret was, but in truth none of them had needed the longer explanation.

They knew Bruce.

Whee!!! *glomps the BatClan*

Tim was probably in the top five, so he certainly didn't need an explanation.

*snickers*

"I had to do all the cooking when I was at the Tower, and I think I was dreaming of your meals by the end, Alfred."

Poor Tim! :p

"Thank him for--for--" Diana stared at J'onn J'onnz, then across the table at Superman and Batman. "He's just informed you he's a vampire, and your response is to modify the information in his file?"

*giggles*

"--Call it a marriage, then," Bruce said in a tone that brooked no contradiction. This time all three stared at him. "It's quite serious," he went on, "And absolutely permanent. And I would like to have it recorded as such."

Eeee! *glomps Bruce*

"I'm glad ( ... )

Aren't they great! They know their Bruce...

Bruce being such a woobie, and then finally giving in...

I know, he was so much fun to write being all fierce and brave (but in the end he's ready to depend on Clark when he has to!) I'm rally glad you enjoyed this, and my appetite for vampire fic (so to speak, lol) has only been whetted! *looks hopefully at you* :D

Oooo. I'll admit to being a bit of a bummer in that all that forever talk made me think if/when one of them is killed: the other isn't going to react well. Either getting themselves killed or getting the people responsible and then taking their own life. I'll admit too many shows and especially recently "Doctor Who" did something similar. Ironically not exactly by killing them. And changing it later on (it's a time travel show, if you don't know, although there was more to it). It also reminds me of Buffy and Angel. Sorry. Although your ending is much happier at the moment. I just think of it as hubris. Due to fictional baggage. Just never mention forever because that's your downfall.

I suppose it helps that I haven't seen any recent Doctor Who or Angel! :) No, hubris is a fair charge to level on anyone who uses terms like "forever" casually. There's no forever, but they'll have enough time to plan for the inevitable disaster and deal with the aftermath.

I just read the entire series in one sitting, and I greatly enjoyed it! The characters' actions and reactions simply rang true to me, one of the things I enjoy most.

(I have to say, it would be interesting to read a sequel dealing with the fallout of this...)

I'm definitely pondering fallout! And I know arch_schatten is contewmplating a spin-off story which I'm sure would be fantastic!

I'm so glad the characters "rang true" to you! That's the highest compliment a fanfic writer can receive...

woot!

lovely ending. i adored this story, and i'm very amused by j'onn's nonchalance and diana's discomfort :) i wonder what wally would say...

in any case, i think you pegged the reactions that you included here, and i love the idea of bruce's wings being extra sensitive :D mwahahaha

excellent as always.

so...can you finish house of earth now? lol, i'm kidding, take your time. .....quickly :P

You know, I think Wally would be relatiovely nonchalant about it! He would be all, "Hell, Batman's always been a scary mofo." :D I think Green Lantern would have the hardest time with it, somehow...

Well, on that front...I'm partway through the second chapter, and I think there's going to be six or seven chapters. August is insane for me, but I'm hoping to have it entirely done and start posting in early September!
