Yes, I am still here. Been busy. In the past two months I have:
Lost a family friend
Lost a grandmother
Gotten a writing job
Been promoted at work
In short, been really really REALLY busy. But I wanted to let you all know I am still here.

I have a pretty good start on my resolutions. I have already read two books, though I shouldn't even count The Tales of Beedle the Bard since it's a mere 5 short stories long. I haven't posted for quite some time. Been busy, been a little lazy. Got some new toys. Wrote a lot. Work has been hectic. There you go - the year in summary.
So here's a look at least year's goals:

I guess I'm at that age where people I know start dying. We lost a family friend suddenly yesterday to an embolism. He was my Dad's age. I'd known him my whole life.
First it was my uncle Jay. Then Lionel's Mom. Then Matt. And now, Bill. All within the last three years.
WTF?
Being an adult really sucks sometimes. -
Vacations, junk food and accidents.
Our vacation was awesome. I cried as soon as we walked on the boat, because the week leading up to our cruise had been so intensely stressful. Mexico was spectacular, Grand Cayman was pretty cool, the private island was perfect as always (twice!) and the days at sea were relaxing. It has been one hell of a week, in more ways than one. Vacation starts now.
We are spending the next week floating through the Caribbean, umbrella drinks required. See you soon. -

Well, we survived Fay with a few little power glitches here and there. We managed to escape the flooding, but do have a pretty squishy yard. And even some squishy roads in the neighborhood. Did some minor yard cleanup yesterday, repotted a few plants and released a bag of ladybugs ( Read more... )
