Possible starving kitties post?

Nov 07, 2012 02:59

I've been umming and ahhimng about this and I still haven't made up my mind whether or not to do my usual Christmas Please-Feed-The-Starving-Kitties post and not because quite frankly Sorcha makes Falstaff from Henry IV look svelte, but because I don't really have any new things to show this year having been so sick, among other reasons*. I've ( Read more... )

Me too! They were all I could stretch to this week, but when mum is here, I fully intend to drag her round all the antique and charity shops and go treasure hunting! We have one or two really unique ones in Stroud too and a market on Fridays which has a couple of stalls selling that kind of thing (I think).

Nice thing about this is that it's actually FUN looking for the silver as well! And even if you aren't up to making stuff, you can always distract yourself by going on a hunt for stuff to use :)

Exactly! Finding the pieces and then designing around them is really exciting me and a daft bit of me loves the idea of 'rescuing' sad odd pieces of flatware and coins too worn to be wanted by collectors and NOT having to support dirty, destructive silver mines. I'll still have to buy some new silver, wire etc, but far less, if any, silver sheet.

Oh and the coins arrived and I'm working with two of them now to make them into the moons for the leaping hare earrings! I'm sanding the front smooth(ish) and leaving the back with all the markings, including the date *grin* I'm having an absolute ball and I've managed to stay out of bed so far today. I'll still need to rest/nap later. but this is better than I've managed in ages. Thank you!!

Post away! Another friend saw my ring from you and really wanted to have a look at your stuff, anyway--it looked like you hadn't been making stuff for a while so I couldn't help her, but if you're back in business I'll send her your way.

It's always so lovely to hear that someone is still wearing something of mine a while after they bought it, so thank you <3 I'll make the post in the next day or so and as always, thank you so much for being there and supporting me, even when I haven't been much in evidence this year!

I am always interested. :)

But I think this year I would prefer one of your new leather works. Maybe a cuff bracelet?

Sounds good to me! I'm addicted to leather working and I'm just working out how to rivet silver to leather too!

Actually, I was thinking you could do some nice leather bracelets/cuffs :)

Yeah, I was wondering the same. They can be made to fit really well because they can be laced closed and so made fully adjustable and I'm playing around with being able to rivet silver to them too.

Well, I would probably be the one asking you for that gothic rose necklace/choker, but I certainly wouldn't be expecting a quick turnaround! Considering the bracelet, it would definitely be worth the wait!

Bless you for that! If you do decide to order it, I'll get it done faster than I got the one I just finished done, I promise, but it's so great to know you understand <3

I'll make the post probably tomorrow or Friday I think and will post some pics of the gothic rose necklace as part of it. I know you have the bracelet, but it may be helpful to see the necklace as it's a real statement piece, with 13 garnets in total.

That's fine! I'll look forward to the post!

I say Post On, for it is fast approaching the Great Midwinter Festival of If-I-want-to-get-anything-I-actually-like-I'm-going-to-have-to-buy-it-myself!

I think they should definitely rename it that! Or the Great Midwinter Festival of If-I-Don't-Want-To-End-Up-With-Crap-Which-Harks-Back-To-My-Childhood-And-Is-Usually-Bagpuss-Or-TheSnowman-Related-I-Need-To-Spell-Out-What-I-Would-Actually-Like-In-Words-Of-One-Syllable-To-My-Mother-Probably-Twice-Because-She-Never-Bloody-Listens.

I will indeed Post On then, probably tomorrow or Friday!
