Read it! I would say, anyway. There are totally legit complaints that can be made against it (as there are against any book series!) but I would still recommend it to any fan of epic fantasy because it is - epic and fun to read. And I love the characters. Except for the ones I hate, but. >>

The size is a little scary, but if you ask me, it's manageable so long as you only look at one book at a time. Particularly if you're a reader of GRRM. And this series is almost done, so yeah, there's that going for it. XD

I loved Rand in this, even though (because?) he was basically Jesus. I mean, that's how you do Jesus. Phenomenal cosmic powers + regular dude with feelings ( ... )

With regard to Alanna, if I remember correctly, she disappeared after receiving a letter-suggesting Verin may have something to do with her disappearance.

I’m hoping Demandred is the king of Murandy, and I second being freaked out by Taim's activities in the Black Tower.

Oohhh, thank you. I should clearly reread.

I have no idea who Demandred is, he's really worrying me. Taim more so, though I still suspect Demandred has something to do with that somehow or other. It would just be. Hm. Who knows.

RAFO? >>

Omg omg omg omg I wish I could take like three days off of work and just sit down and plow through the new book! I've gotten not quite 150 pages into it so far and I love it already. Although the very first line made me go :< I've always thought WoT needs more Lan. I have the day off on Thursday and I hope the weather sucks, so I can spend all day reading.

As for your question? I think Rand is going to die and I'm not sure how I feel about that. He's one of my favorite characters but I'm not sure if he should survive in the end. :

WoT should probably have more Lan, although he's never been my favorite, personally. Although I am very excited to hopefully see him kick ass and take names next book. Please do that, Lan, rather than dying. I would be very upset.

I hope you get a chance to cram in some serious reading time too! I want to hear your thouuuughts on everything.

I think he'll sort of die, but that might just be wishful thinking on my part. I honestly don't know, which is simultaneously really cool and kind of nerve-wracking. I like a little bit of reassurance sometimes. *can be a pussy about things like this...*

I agree with a lot of what you've said, here, though I have to say I found myself actually liking Faile more in this one. Someone on the Dragonmount forums pointed out, one time, that when we actually meet Faile in the beginning she's about fifteen, so I think in a lot of ways it is easy to judge her an immature little brat, but, well, hey, weren't we all when we were fifteen ( ... )

That is true...I didn't really register that, I guess. But I dunno, she doesn't so much bug me as I'm just not interested in her, in a lot of ways? I don't find her POVs intriguing and I'm not attracted to her very much as a character. Though her little anniversary bit with Perrin was sweet, I'll give her that. Maybe I'm just a hardass unwilling to change my mind ( ... )
