in pretty much random order... serialkarma April 6 2006, 14:43:03 UTC
1) Otis Redding, "Dock of the Bay"

2) Van Morrison, "And It Stoned Me," (or anything off of Moondance, really)

3) Everything, "Hooch" (which I totally need to get an mp3 of, now that I think about it.)

4) Bruce Hornsby, "Mandolin Rain"

5) Gordon Lightfoot, "Sundown"

did i tell you that about the refreshments? i don't remember doing that; i certainly don't own their second album, at the very least, if it does exist and is indeed better than the first. huh. clearly i killed some brain cells doing all this drinking on porches, because that whole memory is a big hole in my head.

i swear it (probably) wasn't me; i think i'd remember that. if you find a copy of this mythical second album, though, let me know how it is!

i got into the refreshments because of lirette; he introduced me to that album via "girly".

god, i love that stevie album.

i can't answer the porch swing question though, and my reasons are twofold.

1. i would just start listing artists. corb lund, roy forbes (ROY FORBES OMG), lyle lovett, and i could go on.

2. i am writing someone some het!jensen on a porch swing and it is. well, it's a little distracting.

... my porches never have jensen, danny, i am VERY SAD about this.

my best friend in college was crazy about stevie, and texas flood is the very best in memories about drinking and laughing and driving around minnesota in the middle of the night in another friend's car, playing our music too loud. stevie rocks.

*smish*

oh oh and chris smither, yayes. if you have never heard chris smither, you have never heard a man do git-ar pickin, and that's just the way it is. \m/

i used to fall asleep to lenny every night when i was much younger. to this day, when i hear the opening notes of that song, i just wanna lay my hed down and nap. <3

i will see wot i can do about yor lack of jensen.

i do not know chris smither! i will check him out, yay.

there are many good things about the spn fandom, danny, but one of the BEST things about it is that all these people who never gave country or western or blues music a chance before all listening to classic artists and loving it. YAY. \o/

jensen on a porch omg yay!

No order to speak of, really febrile April 6 2006, 15:26:44 UTC
"Watch the River Flow," Bob Dylan.

"In the Satellite Rides a Star," The Old 97's. This song is peaceful quietude.

"Kansas City," Jimmy Reed & Little Walter. Coulda been Muddy Waters or Howlin' Wolf or anybody in the Chicago blues strain. Somethin' about a slow harmonica blues shuffle is a voodoo that too many people don't know about.

"Easy Like Sunday Morning," Lionel Ritchie. I think this is the first time I have ever used Lionel Ritchie in one of Min's Top Fives.

"Oklahoma, U.S.A.," The Kinks. And I'd probably sing along quietly to myself.

if it was my porch, you could sing along loudly to the kinks if you wanted to.
