oi, min? you know, i had this thought, and was wondering if you'd ever done a "top five song covers" because if you haven't, that could be very interesting. (i maybe love covers, a lot. *grin*)

in the meantime, i've been pondering the current top five, and i've decided that i have no idea. i'm fairly certain that good porch sitting music should be fairly lazy, possibly country influenced, and generally be something that you can sing along to. (really, there's not much better than sprawling on the porch, shoes off, soaking in the heat and singing. especially if you throw in some spiked tea.)

so.

1. "American Pie", Don McLean
2. "Comes A Time", Neil Young
3. "Boondocks", Little Big Town oh god, i am so ashamed of this song. so ashamed. but the sad truth is that the more i've had to drink, the more likely i am to sing it at the top of my lungs.
4. "Black Velvet", Alannah Myles
5. "Pinch Me", Barenaked Ladiesalso, a world of WORD to the house rules and dock of the bay. a whole world of word. and um. six would be something ( ... )

i thought we'd done "top five cover songs" and i was right, we HAD, but it was MORE THAN TWO YEARS AGO. i think that calls for a recycling of topics, don't you?

sweet tea + amaretto = best summer drink ever. ♥

i cannot even believe that. that bracket was ASS! and, you know, this is the first year i remember where, like, 99% of our office pool was DEAD and incapable of getting ANYmore points after the elite eight.

Hmmm..I shall think about what I'd like to ask for! You may feel free to push one particualr fandom at me over another (makes me kind of wish i'd ever watched sga!)

hee, as i watched it climbing up to the top of the rankings, i just GIGGLED AND GIGGLED. yay. GO YOU.

hmmmm, fandoms, okay, you pick: sports night, west wing, doctor who, supernatural, entourage. pick one and send me lyrics or a bunny or something, and i will make it for you. *heart heart heart*

Sitting on a porch makes me think of being in the South humpingbears April 6 2006, 16:24:18 UTC
So this list is gonna be all from my time in Nashville.
1) "Gettin' By" by Jerry Jeff Walker - From the very first line, "Hi, buckaroos", this is the ultimate song for beer on the front porch. ("Sangria Wine" by Jerry Jeff would be a close 2nd, but I'll keep this to one song per artist.)
2) "Hot Burrito No. 1" by the Flying Burrito Brothers - Gram Parson's voice was made for the front porch.
3) "A Thousand Miles From Nowhere" by Dwight Yoakam - Yeah.
4) "Suffused With Love" by Sondre Lerche - my tiny Norwegian musical boyfriend. This is an EXCELLENT porch song. Very good for a sunset porch-sit.
5) "XFire" by The Bens - Ben Kweller, Ben Lee, and Ben Folds on a silly little dance number, complete with singing synthesizers. Oh, yeah. Good for dance parties on the porch with a little bit of the strong stuff.

I'm so glad you've taken well to the Jerry Jeff. That makes me very, very happy.

He's playing my favorite club here in July, and I am SO going to see him. I will drink many beers and sing along loudly and feel no shame about it. My sister may join me.
