*Looking somewhat pale and definitely thinner, Bernard emerges from the Staff Quarters, his Washington Post in hand. He gets a cup of coffee from Bar, and goes to sit at his table.

He lights a cigarette, and opens the paper warily. Too much to hope that things suddenly got better in the world while he was out.*

A handsome young man wanders in. He's in a pair of khaki pants and a t-shirt that looks maybe a little too small for him, but not in a bad way.
