Lily sets a large bowl of what appear to be perfectly innocent jelly beans next to the sign.

"Any takers?"

Peeta studied the sign, with a mock grimace.
It be more grimace than mock though.

"Beans?" Not that anyone in District 12 was all that picky.

"Every flavor," Lily says, cheerfully.

"I have what I think was tree bark, once."

Peeta looked at the small red bean.

"Don't be tree bark or vomit, okay?"

And if he has to choose one, the first, please.
He's tasted enough of the second to live without it.

He popped it into his mouth.

And then did his level best suddenly not convulse or spit it out. It was sharp and spicy and wholy different from the ones before it.

"Are you all right, Peeta?

"Do you need water or anything?"

He was potentially nodding, but mostly trying to swallow it whole so he could stop tasting it. He would have eaten dirt again in that moment, as his eyes were watering.

"Here," Lily says, setting a glass of water in front of him.

Because she has no idea which question he's nodding in response to.

Even as he's drinking the water, he's almost hard wire reminding himself it's still not as bad as having a sword slammed into his leg. It's nowhere near. Even if it feels about as disorienting for a second.

"Thanks. That was--" Peeta shook his head.
His tongue was still tingling. "I don't even know. Spicy."

"Chili peppers or hot sauce or something, maybe.

"Do you need more water?"

Foods one would never find anything like in 12 really. Rare spices belonged to people who were deserving. Peeta was wiping his eyes, shaking his head, trying to look a little more put together through the surprise.

"No, it's okay. That was definitely something."

"Yeah, some of them really, really are," Lily agrees.

"D'you still want to try the orange one?"

"Only if to not have survived that one for nothing."

There's still some hard-pressed amusement at his edges.
He's seen far worse in the way of sudden surprises.

"Here's hoping for something good, then," Lily says, with her fingers crossed.

Peeta popped the last one in his mouth.

There was a pause. Then.

"Huh. An orange."

"That's almost anticlimactic, isn't it?

"The orange one is an orange?

"And that's five.

"What would you like to drink?"

He offered her back the half empty water glass. "Tea."

Beat. "No sugar."

"What kind of tea?" she asks, accepting the water glass.

Because there are so many choices, Peeta.
