Justin got into trouble again on his last shift so he's playing it safe today. The Specials board simply reads;

Alcohol

It's possible he's in a bit of a mood.

'Bar's open.'

[OOC: After midnight, slowtime, yay!]

It's a mood that someone picks up on when she comes over, and it's not like she wants to make it worse.

She just doesn't care a lot.

"Cranberry juice."

'Sure,' he replies, just as shortly, and gets up from where he'd been sitting and reading a book.

Ten seconds later;

'There you go.'

She nods her thanks, and glances at the book he's just put down.

"Good read?"

He pulls a face at it.

'Wuthering Heights. We're doing it in school. It's OK.'

Heathcliff is an ass but sounds pretty hot.

"Boilermaker." Jordan had a long day in the lab, so the cybernetic-armed girl is not much talkative before two drinks.

He gives her a look from under his eyebrows, then gets up from his stool and finds the recipe book. It's a few moments before her drink is placed in front of her.

'There you go.'

As long as Justin does not water the whiskey down with too much beer, after a long sip Jordan will even smile a bit. "Thanks."

"Jordan Kennedy."

He returns the smile - he's not the type not to unless things are really wrong - and says;

'Justin Taylor. Good to meet you.'

Direct and to the point--Skaði approves.

She takes a seat at the bar. "Alcohol, yes. Something very strong."

'No preference at all?'

He has to check, otherwise he'll just crack out the Atlantean.

"None at all," she says, shaking her head. "As long as it's not one of those drinks that gets served on fire. It just burns away the flavor."

'Atlantean it is.'

He finds a bottle and pours her a shot.

'I never heard that about flaming drinks - I'll have to spend a night comparing some one day.'

And nods at the shot.

'Careful with that, it's the strongest drink ever.'

And yellow. ALways be wary of yellow drinks.

James is entirely casual as he approaches and says, "Vodka and Coke, please."

He stands up to comply but then takes a proper look at the guy. On another day, he might not even ask but he's bitchy today.

'How old are you?'

James barely pauses before saying, "Eighteen."

Then realises this may not suffice.

"Crap. Is the end of the universe in America?"

His eyes narrow a touch.

'No. But I'm American and since I'm serving today, I can put the age limit wherever I feel like it.'

Beat.

'And you don't look eighteen. Got any ID?'

He's always wanted to be the one to ask that for a change.

"I'd indulge, except it wouldn't be good for who's kicking at my insides," Mia says as she carefully takes a seat.

Some of her hair is twisted and that waitrat still hasn't come with her lunch.

'You look like you're much further along,' he remarks, sliding off his stool.

'How's it going?'

"Just past the halfway point and he's letting me know it. And other than wishing Draco would come home from work for a lunch break, I'm fine."

She idly starts twirling at her hair again.

"What's the next best thing to the special, in your opinion?"

'A milkshake. Or smoothie.'

Can't go wrong with either of them and they're even sorta kinda healthy. Well, they have some healthy ingredients in them.

'You know for sure it's a boy?'
