Justin got into trouble again on his last shift so he's playing it safe today. The Specials board simply reads;

Alcohol

It's possible he's in a bit of a mood.

'Bar's open.'

[OOC: After midnight, slowtime, yay!]

skadi, bartending, justin taylor, sameth, renee montoya, mia ausa

"Boilermaker." Jordan had a long day in the lab, so the cybernetic-armed girl is not much talkative before two drinks.

He gives her a look from under his eyebrows, then gets up from his stool and finds the recipe book. It's a few moments before her drink is placed in front of her.

'There you go.'

As long as Justin does not water the whiskey down with too much beer, after a long sip Jordan will even smile a bit. "Thanks."

"Jordan Kennedy."

He returns the smile - he's not the type not to unless things are really wrong - and says;

'Justin Taylor. Good to meet you.'

"Don't take me wrong, Justin, but right now I love you." Jordan flashes a grin, taking another long drink. "Oh damn, what a day."

'Wouldn't matter if you did, you're sporting the wrong equipment,' he shoots back, as he slumps back down on his stool.

'Long one, huh?'

Jordan gives a smirk, nodding. "Hm. Some 16 hours. But That is because I am stubborn."

"Stopped because I ran out of spare parts."

'What are you building?'

He has noticed the arm, of course.

"A robot made of solid holograms. Trying to make everything but the 'brain' be force fields and raw energy." Hm, boilermaker. "Right now, it is not stable enough and burns out the brain core."

"Annoying part is that if I use an external controller, it works fine, but then it is 'leashed' to that external part, and I want it able to roam free. Sorta."

Justin blinks at her.

'I didn't understand any part of that.'

At least he can admit it?

She can try in parts, of course.

Good boilermakers put Jordan in a good mood. "Ever heard of force shields and force fields?" Those are the basic part.

'Yeah, of course.'

In movies.

"Okay, step one of a solid hologram robot is to make a force field, and fold it on itself. Step two is to charge it up so it can last a while... I am aiming for 168 hours before it needs recharge."

She takes a sip and continues. "Step three is to 'dress up' the shaped force field with an holographic image. Once that is done, I have a statue of sorts, made of light and energy, and solid to touch."

"Step four is what is giving me a headache."

'So, what's step four?'

Beat.

'And what are you doing it for anyway?'

"Put a CPU inside the shield with actuators to make the 'statue' move and do things. If it is more insulated, the holobot does not move right, the actuators can't manipulate the shields. If it is less insulated, it burns out quickly." And Jordan did not find the middle point yet.

The second question makes the girl stare at Justin oddly. "Because I want to know if I can do it."

'Right.'

Again with the not understanding any of that. Justin's extremely intelligent but they don't teach robotics or anything like this at his school. He's not even sure if this sort of thing can be done back home.

'So once you've done it, you'll just...leave it and go on to something else?'
