Cy is outside when he finds the makeshift cineplex. The films on the second and three screens are a bit weird, but the first screen has the sort of thing he likes. Fights and explosions and aliens and so on.

"Hey, Enzo. What's showing?"

"Hey, Cyborg. This one's Space Wars."

It's pretty much Star Wars, of course. Dani's universe just can't afford copyright infringement. See, there's Dark Laser and his dramatic music now!

"Huh. I don't know that one. At least I think I don't." It looks like Galaxy Wars, but that isn't Link Skyfighter or Hank Sulu. "But it looks good." He takes a seat on a convenient reinforced folding chair. "You do this all the time?"

That is convenient, isn't it?

"Nah." Enzo sprawls beside him. "It's for my birthday, sort of."

Evil Chicken was so busy inspecting the forest soil, looking for a place to plant his evil catnip, that he didn't notice the impromptu theater being set up. He didn't notice the demon bunnies had stopped "visiting" him.

That is until he heard the dog chasing after a bunny.

Then he saw the dog. And what it looked like.

"Oh gods, what is it what is it what is it what is it what is it what is it?"

Then he saw the vidscreens. Then the boy. The green plastic looking boy.

The chicken had enough sense left in him to teleport off the ground and into one of the trees. Not enough to teleport far far away from the things that are inspiring his existential horror.

No, he had to watch.

"OvO"

The vidscreens are displaying Epic Battles of some kind of other (well, except for Screen 3, which is mostly displaying Epic Fail). The plastic-looking boy is greeting guests and eating plastic-looking cake.

The dog... has padded around the back of the chicken's tree and has just begun to growl.

"What do you want?"

VOICE IN HIS HEAD WTF

Frisket starts to bark and stand up against the tree. Being scared off is something that happens to other dogs.

(Su-ure, he's only watching for the swordfights ;))

Enzo better be careful, because there's a User of the girlfriend variety sneaking up on his six.

"Happy un-birthday," she greets him, followed by a quick peck on the cheek.

Eep! Gosh, she can be quiet.

He turns, grins, and returns the kiss. "Thanks. How's it going? You start school yet?"

Half-ghost, remember? ;)

"Pretty well." His question about school makes her grimace. "Yeah, I started last week. I didn't know it was going to be so boring."

Bonzo turns up outside the cineplex as well.

"Ho, Enzo. What's going on?"

Can you be outside the cineplex when the cineplex is outside? *Zen moment*

"Hey, Bonzo! It's my unbirthday! C'mon, have some cake!"

Bonzo follows Enzo cakeward. "Unbirthday? What is an unbirthday?"

"That's Dani's word. It's only my real birthday every five years, but it'd be my birthday the way they do it here."

Curious as to what's going on, Val checks out each screen before settling on the third option. There may not be much heckling as she's too curious about Enzo's world.

These shows will tell her something about cyberspace, certainly. For starters, that a lot of the people there are composed of simple geometric forms.

Also, that Earth does not have a monopoly on bad acting and impossibly low-budget productions.

"Don't worry, Bob!" declares the green sphere in the spiky hairpiece and the leather vest. "I will come back and save you all!"

The rectangular blue man presses a mittenlike hand to his... eyeblock. "No! There must... be... another way!"

Unfortunately Val is more interested in facts than over acting so she quickly gives up and wanders over to the second screen.

Which is a pity, because at least True Stories is, technically, non-fiction.

On the other hand, the cavalcade of action she's now watching is much, much higher-budget, which means better sets, which means it might give her some idea of how that world actually looks.
