The birthday* boy is now apparently twelve years old, and has just compiled another inch, putting him at 5'3". The latest upgrade has also produced the most noticeable drop in his voice so far.
For his party, he has found a spot near the woods which ought to remain in shade for a good while, although the party may have to migrate later. There are snacks for all comers (matter and otherwise), a huge
dog patrolling for demon bunnies, and three movie screens.
One screen is the portable kind humans are likely to be used to, on a metal tripod base, with a projector and speakers hooked up to a small generator. The other two are file windows, expanded to about the same size. The three are spaced at intervals so that the noise from one is unlikely to interfere with the others. Each has a selection of films, to be played throughout the day.
Theatre 1 will be playing the User version of Tron, and some of the movies his girlfriend has introduced him to, such as Space Wars, Missouri James and the Citadel of Terror, and The Prince's Bride (he's only watching it for the swordfights. Really).
Theatre 2 is showing such cyberspace classics as Overclocked!, Legend of Tron, Server Crash: Terror on the 'Net, Guardian Academy 10, and Pirates of the Carrier Signal. Viewers who haven't visited cyberspace may be a little surprised at the
actors, who even play the sprite characters (surprisingly well, in some cases; it's amazing what a good makeup department can do).
Theatre 3 isn't for movies; instead, it will be displaying highlights from
True Stories of Mainframe, for your heckling pleasure.
Come watch, come eat, come chat, come give Enzo totally undeserved presents!
*At home, his next birthday is when he's the equivalent of 15, and it will be a huge event. But the Earth folks here are used to people having them every year, and it would be a shame to disappoint them, right? Right?
