Usually he'd feel a little bit awkward about intruding on a cuddly moment, but he's spent the past few weeks on a scavenger hunt for a doom squid. He's too tired to care at the moment.
Thus, Sam and Cal get an Atton draped haphazardly over their shoulders.

This is why he looks up at Atton and grins, reaching one arm up to ruffle his hair.
"Hey, dorkface."

One of the faces is familiar to her; the other, however, not so much.
She offers them both a smile just the same.
"Hey."

"Hi." Sam looks up and smiles. "Pleased to meet you."

"Hi, Sam," she adds. "You know, you're the second Sam I've met here. Must be a popular name."

He's moved so that he's sprawled out, legs dangling off the edge and partly slumped on Sam, and is half asleep.
Cracking one eye open: "Hey."

And when she's a few feet away --
"Cal."
Beat.
"You are okay?"
He could be very tired. That sometimes makes people prone to laughter. She has observed this first-hand.
His companion nets himself a quick, sideways look as well. Just in case he is also not okay.

"Yeah, I'm good, how are you? Oh, this is Sam," he adds. "Linnfer. Sam, this is X-23."

X tests the name, studying the person who bears it, too.
And after a moment --
"Hello."
She does not move to sit down. X is not that kind of girl.

The new girl is strange, but Cal has said she's his friend, and in any case, it's not as though Sam's ever had a problem with strange.
He smiles up at her. "Hi."

Just to look at him, you'd have never thought it of him.
He has a pillow, even. And when his attention wanders from whatever's occupied it in the fire, he gives a half-wave to Cal before he realises that Cal is not alone.
WHOOPS.

"Hey, Chuck," he says. "How you doing?"
