Charlie...is not aware of the date. If he were he might be more understanding of why he looks like a teenager ( Read more... )

But that might be why Teja doesn't recognise him at first.

But remembering that this is Milliways on One Of Those Days, he looks at the boy who looks a bit like Charlie and wonders if that is really Charlie.

He's not doing anything abnormal, yet; just reading a book. Of course, given the slightly different conveyance of mood from teenager!body to adult!body, he looks a little sulkier.

Though to his credit he's managing cocky fairly well, the way he's splayed out on one of the overstuffed chairs in a corner.

The boy is sweet; but appreciation of boyish sweetness might bring one trouble with the values of men from the future?

Teja tries not to look too much. Charlie from the past, maybe?

Charlie sighs lightly, turning the book over. "If you're going to stare at me, Teja, at least come over here to do it."

Not his best mood. "Yes, it's me. Younger." With his tone of voice, the words might as well have been 'Not. Happy.'

"I take it that Bar is playing an April Fool's trick on you, Charlie?"

"You look good young."

Charlie looks up.

Oh boy.

"I suppose I should say thank you, but I can't say I'm particularly fond of being eighteen again."

"A bad year for you, was it?"

He considers how to answer that. He'd like to pithily answer yes, but this is Croup and Vandemar. Potentially nightmare-worthy information should stay firmly silent.

"Let's say I enjoy being a decade older far, far more than I thought before this morning."

Beat.

"You look unchanged."

Yrael's curled up on the bar, eyeing his bowl of milk.

Milk shouldn't taste like catnip. It really shouldn't.

"I see the day has gotten you, as well."

Charlie's mouth twitches. "It has."

He's dealing with it; it's only for a day. He hopes. If it goes much longer he's going to have words with someone. "What's it done to you?"

"All it has done, thankfully, is given me catnip-flavored milk. I'm waiting to see if the flavor is all that has transferred, rather than all the side-effects as well."

"You're lucky. I can't say I entirely expected this to happen when I walked in."

He pushed a hand through his hair in mild frustration.

Jason knows Charlie's scent well enough to know him, even if he is a teenager today. He sits himself down across from Charlie.

"Got you, did she?"

"Astute, you are," he says, only mildly pithy.

"And yes."

Jason still isn't much for banter, but in his current state he feels he can go toe to toe with a teenager.

He shrugs. "I'd buy you a drink, but...age restrictions."

"I was drinking before I was eighteen, dear Jason." Charlie's facial expression is flat, and faintly irritated at the lack of reasonable age.

"I won't tell anyone you're buying me alcohol, if you just buy it for me."
