Demyx is not the only person on the couch by the fire.

He's draped himself half-across Axel's lap at this point while he strums on the sitar and makes notes here and there on music paper.

Someone, rescue poor Axel from this terrible fate?

There is a very short Nobody entering.

Not Larxene.

And Xigbar has a heart.

Axel recognises that person.

He is suddenly very, very stiff, his entire body rigid.

And staring.

His heart skips a beat, and he makes a choked sound.

Demyx is jostled for a moment, looking up at Axel in confusion before ... following... Axel's... line of sight...

"...By Kingdom Hearts..."

Roxas stares at them for a minute, eyes blank.

"Oh."

Every now and then, there are fingers in Demyx's hair.

But mostly, Axel stares into the fire, and tries not to be too distracting.

Demyx makes a pleased little purring sound at every touch. But mostly he's writing. Mostly.

this is oh-so-very much BEFORE Roxas.

"Writing something good?" Axel asks him.

yes. yes it is.

"I'd write better if I got a kiss." Demyx replies innocently.

The Mouse King glances over at Demyx and says nothing. He walks by them and just offers a hopeful smile and nods to Demyx and Axel.

Demyx scrambles off Axel's lap in an instant, backing away to the far side of the couch.

But he's not screaming or crying or going into a panic fit otherwise - even if he's very clearly doing his damn best to keep from doing that.
