[OOM: Before a startling proclamation is read, Jon informs his champion of its contents. She definitely approves.]

Having a dream come true is wonderful.

Having another dream come true might be an embarrassment of riches, Alanna thinks as she shoves open the door with her shoulder, wearing full court dress and a distinctly smug smile. (Or, if ( Read more... )

Adam, in her absense had gotten a little... well, let's not say "bored." With three small children around, it's not really possible to be bored. But restless is a good word in its place, at least.

It's possible he's spent the last few hours in their room at the bar, playing Guitar Hero. Possible.

But when he comes out to the bar proper and sees Alanna there, he wraps himself around her, with a giant grin.

Full contact with another person is startling, though Alanna doesn't think to simply turn her head or throw him off. Frowning, she pushes at the arms holding her close.

Rather nice arms, but still unexpected arms.

"Oof. Get off me."

She twists at the waist, catching sight of a familiar set of eyes.

"Oh."

Her smile is slow and full of teeth.

"You're drunk, aren't you?" He eyes her carefully, and then the hand. "Need a hand?"

He laughs a little -- it's possible there was far too much sugar ingested during the Guitar Hero marathon.

What, he can't do it here, where he's not being a bad influence on the kids? He gives her a kiss on the cheek and flops onto a nearby stool, and a water appears on the bar.

"Just in?"

"Drunk?"

There's an innocent, questioning look sent his way.

"Yes." She waits a moment, then adds, "From the palace."

"Where's Grace?"

"Oh, is that the arm from the note, Sir Alanna?"

Shufti peers at it over Alanna's shoulder. "Does this mean the creature is disarmed?"

After offering a quick, welcoming smile, Alanna stares intently at the arm for longer than the question truly warrants.

"At least partially," she answers at last, voice grave. And then her lips twitch. "I don't know how many it has left."

Ah, wine.

"This creature makes people disappear?" she frowns.

"It sounds like it, though I haven't any new information, sorry." Shufti smiles back.

"Have you touched it?"

"...no. And now I'm not sure I should," she confesses, with a laugh. "Has anyone else?"

Picking up a spoon, she holds it like a dagger and makes like she's going to poke the arm.

Another formally dressed figure follows Alanna through the door a few minutes later. Jon grins at her slightly unsteady form and crosses over to her.

He leans over and says slightly louder than necessary in her ear, "So I see Gary introduced you to his new hobby."

Alanna jumps.

Odd, Jon isn't very sneaky. She can usually hear him coming. He must have used his Gift to dampen the sound.

Content with this explanation, she makes a face at him.

"Must you shout in my ear?"

She's forgotten for the moment how amazing and wonderful and magnanimous he is.

"Hobby?" Blink, blink.

"Yes," Jon replies simply with a grin, then slides into the seat next to her.

"I have driven him to drink. The paperwork has made him mad and he is giving it all up to start a vineyard." Jon looks at Alanna solemnly.

"Lies. He loves the paperwork. It makes him feel whole," she announces, driving her point home with a firm nod.

She sighs happily, reaching over to pat his hand.

"I do love you, Jon."

A stone arm. That's...different. Medusa, wearing glasses that really don't match the pretty Egyptian dress she is wearing, stares at it from down the bar.

Even her snakes are still and quiet.

[OOC: Sorry, I had a phone call. Back now!]

Alanna has done a fair bit of staring at it as well, over the last few minutes.

"It doesn't look like much, does it? Just the arm."

The question is vaguely addressed to Medusa, though Alanna hasn't taken a very close look at the other woman just yet.

[ooc: yay!]

The wings are gold. It might not take long.

"Mortal?"

As predicted, Alanna looks over, then wishes she hadn't flung her head around so fast.

Gold wings. Snakes. Clearly not mortal.

She's fascinated, even as cool caution steals over her face.

"I hope not. If it is -- was -- I don't envy the poor bastard." She shakes her head. "Statue. I prefer marble, myself."

The stone arm got a curious eye.

"Somebody attack a statue. It's not from a shapeshifter right?" Since her friend can turn his arm to stone easily.

"If it is, he or she is in for a nasty surprise after shifting back," Alanna muses. "But I think it's just a statue. Not a very nice statue, but a statue."

This whole situation is so bizarre.

"Definitely if they can't regenerate. You have bad statues around here too? I know it's weird around here, and comparable with my world..."

"Have you heard of people disappearing from the bar?"

There's a smile and an understanding nod at the mention of her world. Alanna can only imagine.
