Having a dream come true is wonderful.
Having another dream come true might be an embarrassment of riches, Alanna thinks as she shoves open the door with her shoulder, wearing full court dress and a distinctly smug smile. (Or, if

Shufti peers at it over Alanna's shoulder. "Does this mean the creature is disarmed?"
Reply
"At least partially," she answers at last, voice grave. And then her lips twitch. "I don't know how many it has left."
Ah, wine.
"This creature makes people disappear?" she frowns.

"Have you touched it?"

Picking up a spoon, she holds it like a dagger and makes like she's going to poke the arm.

Holding up a finger, she asks Bar for a glass of water and splashes her face. After scrubbing a hand over damp eyes, she takes a deep breath and forces herself to focus.

Reply
Another shrug.
"Not a bad idea. Perhaps we should check with the others, though the worst that could probably happen is that someone in some world gets a steak dropped on their head."
Reply
"Okay, I'll keep an eye on things, and if there's anything you want me to do or try and find out, let me know."
Slightly shy smile. "I was wondering if I could ask you something please? Unrelated to this."
Reply
Forget what she was thinking about loving Gary and Raoul; next time she sees them, she's beating them up.
"Certainly."
She gives Shufti her full attention.

"Congratulations," she exclaims, cheerfully putting the stone arm out of mind. "You certainly won't be fired or anything like that. Do as much as you can or you want, and when you no longer feel comfortable working, just let us know. I trust you to know your own body, and what's best for your baby."
