Maria hasn't gone outside of Milliways much, but after her talk with Sarah Jane, she finds it better to be away from the Bar and its stifling atmosphere at the moment. And she doesn't want to go back home right now, either. So she's lying on her back on the cold ground, watching her breath come in white puffs above her, and resting her hands on her

Toby, who is only in scrubs, looks a bit cold.

But he smiles at Maria as he passes, having come out for some fresh air.

Maria looks over at the man, smiling softly at him. And she notices his lack of clothes, so she wonders if he needed fresh air as much as she did.

"Bit stuffy in there," she muses, thoughtfully.

"Yeah, I miss the smoking ban." Toby says with a small smile. "My lungs had just adapted."

That gets a little laugh from her. "Think I might second-hand smoke two packs a day in there, if I'm not careful."

She looks at him curiously. "You're a doctor?"

There were a pair of boots standing near Maria now, and a gentle voice saying, "That's really not a good idea this time of year, you know? Ground can take the warmth right out of you."

Maria looks up at the voice. "Yeah. I don't notice it much at the moment, though," she sighs. In fact, she actually likes the numb feeling it gives her right now.

Kate then crouched down by her, "...How long have you been out here?" Clear concern in her voice at that.

Maria smiles softly at the girl. "'M not sure, actually." She appreciates a friendly voice, at the very least.

"It's totally going to snow soon," says a cheerful blonde girl, camera in hand. She snaps a quick photo of the girl on the ground, still grinning brightly. "Which means it's almost Christmas. And Death giving out presents, which I'm definitely going to document this year."

Maria is suddenly very confused. Someone snaps a picture of her, and then...Death giving out presents?

"Um...what?" She looks at the girl. "Death gives out presents?"

"Yeah. I asked him for something to use to communicate with my boyfriend when he's back in D.C. and I'm in Smallville, but it didn't work." Chloe shrugs. Apparently, she doesn't mind that very much. "He totally goes with the whole wig and hat theme, too."

"O-kaaaay," Maria chuckles a bit. "Um. I've seen much weirder, actually. And not in Milliways."

She lays her hands in the grass, liking the cold at the moment. "Why did you take my picture, anyway?"
