Maria hasn't gone outside of Milliways much, but after her talk with Sarah Jane, she finds it better to be away from the Bar and its stifling atmosphere at the moment. And she doesn't want to go back home right now, either. So she's lying on her back on the cold ground, watching her breath come in white puffs above her, and resting her hands on her

Toby, who is only in scrubs, looks a bit cold.

But he smiles at Maria as he passes, having come out for some fresh air.

Maria looks over at the man, smiling softly at him. And she notices his lack of clothes, so she wonders if he needed fresh air as much as she did.

"Bit stuffy in there," she muses, thoughtfully.

"Yeah, I miss the smoking ban." Toby says with a small smile. "My lungs had just adapted."

[not_on_her_own]

That gets a little laugh from her. "Think I might second-hand smoke two packs a day in there, if I'm not careful."

She looks at him curiously. "You're a doctor?"

[dr_de_silva]

Toby nods.

"Yes, I'm a doctor. Back home smoking isn't allowed in bars."

[not_on_her_own]

She turns her attention back to the sky for a moment, patting her hands idly on her chest. "Actually, this time I was more just wanting to get away from too many people. Or...one person, I mean."

"Oh. Um, sorry, do you want leaving alone?"

[not_on_her_own]

She shakes her head and smiles softly. "No. It's not much better to be alone, either. It's nice to talk."

Maria sits up now and holds out her hand. "Sorry, should've introduced myself. I'm Maria Jackson."

"Toby de Silva, nice to meet you Maria." Toby says, smiling shyly and shaking the hand. He sits next to her. "What do you do?"

"You too, Toby. Um...can I call you Toby, or would you prefer Mr. de Silva?"

She laughs just slightly. "Nothing too grand yet. Well...maybe a bit. I go to school, but also I sort of...save the world. Frequently."

This is the part where people sometimes look at her strangely. Depending on the person, of course.

"Sure you can." He smiles, then wide eyes. "Wow! You're the first superhero I met in here."

[not_on_her_own]

Maria chuckles. "Oh no, 'm not really...a superhero. I don't have powers or anything. See, I met this woman that used to travel across the universe, and she keeps Earth safe from aliens and other nasty things. And I help her now. Sounds sort of weird."

[dr_de_silva]

"In that case it's even more impressive that you save the world."

[not_on_her_own]

She smiles a little bashfully. "I guess. Well, you have a pretty cool job, being a doctor."

[dr_de_silva]

"Thank you. I have a lot to learn."

[not_on_her_own]

She picks at the grass idly. "Where are you from, then? Time and place, I mean. I'm from Ealing, 2007."
