Today is the big day.

James is so excited. Everything is ready, and the cake looks amazing - it's almost so good, he isn't sure he can eat it (of course, he'll get over that soon enough ( Read more... )

It's a mishmash of virtual and physical decor; there's even crepe paper.

There is a big table set up for birthday presents. It is covered in a nice forest-green table-cloth.

And a sign in James' handwriting, of course, reading:

PUT YOUR PRESENTS FOR WILL HERE!

A medium-sized box, wrapped in green and yellow paper, goes on the table.
No fair shaking it, now--though it's not breakable if one does.

Sometime later in the night, its time to open presents and the wrapping makes Will smile and he's very careful of the paper as he opens it.

Sooraya's gift for him is a hooded jacket, against the upcoming winter; a little large for him perhaps, she'd had to guess at the size. The color's a light brown that would blend in with woods. The inner layer is also a tougher material, meant to turn aside knives or arrows. But she doesn't mention that little fact; today is no time for talk of battles.

Kevin send a carved wooden box, with the image of a springtime
maple tree painted on the lid. The box has a lock, with the key taped to the lid for now. Opening it, there are a set of metal arrowheads inside, twenty in all; divided between bodkin and broadhead type.

In the kitchen, drinks are laid out, mainly sodas but there is a keg or two of beer and some bottles of wine.

Scattered around the house are a variety of things to eat, all leaning towards various sorts of junk food either sweet or savory.

Sometime during the evening a bottle of good Irish whiskey appears near the bottles of wine if anyone wants any of that.

In one of the more open spaces, there will be music for dancing, nothing too complicated but if any musicians wish to show up this is the place for them.

Marian's in a good mood tonight, so she's edging around the floor thoughtfully.

She definitely wouldn't turn down a partner and some fun.

John happens to be edging around the floor in the opposite direction -- though warily rather than thoughtfully -- and he inevitably bumps into Marian.

"Sorry," he says, sheepish but relieved when he sees it's her. "I was just contemplating escape."

Ingress staaaares at the cake.

Is it a cake? Is it a tree? Is it sweet?

One jab of the finger will tell all. Ingress swipes some icing and sucks it off her finger so quickly no one can see.

Oh yum. It might be a tree, but it's one yummy tree.
