So, a polar bear in black metal armor walks into a Bar...

(OOM: Of how Iorek Byrnison took a wrong turn to the End of the Universe. Warning: Very mild spoilers for Northern Lights. No, really, I kept the post small so the spoilers are minimal. )

He just stepped through what looked like a stone arch, half of it natural and the other half made from carefully-hewn masonry. For a moment a corridor of the same ( Read more... )

Muldoon's a werewolf with a burgeoning headache. It's a bit much being in a crowded airport with a bunch of people who are...much smellier then they should be. He's trying to wrap his mind around that when there's-

Bear.

He automatically freezes, doing his best not to stare directly at it, or provoke it, all the while quashing thoughts about just where his gun was at this very moment...

Instead there will be coughing! Intense coughing. Getting up to get a drink of water, Muldoon sighs finally. Could I take a bear?

The bear was wearing armor. Probably meant it was intelligent, "...Are you all right?"

This from the weatherbeaten looking man with a glass of water trying to ignore all the warning signals in his brain.

He turns towards the voice, his movements deceivingly smooth, and surprisingly quick for his size. He's even bigger than an average polar bear, and the armor adds to his bulk. The bullet-shaped head leans down towards Muldoon as the paws replace the armored headplate onto it.

"I think I am. This... Doesn't feel like I had my skull cracked open and am seeing things."

There isn't the barest hint of emotion in his deep, bellowing rumble of a voice, nor a smidgen of expression in those dark eyes, but he doesn't seem hostile, at least. Which is good, considering those claws.

Muldoon watches him carefully just the same, "....I'd say something creative and fuckin' witty about this place but there's not a whole lot to be said. You're new right? To the bar?"

He sweeps a hand over the bar at large, expression careful, "...Nice Armor."

He's a soldier, he can appreciate armor. Believe us.

The expression, or lack of it, doesn't change. His posture is relaxed, and even though a polar bear standing on his hind legs should be a very big warning sign, there is no hint of threat from him at the moment ( ... )

"Okay," says the blond man in the blue clothes, who's sitting at one of the tables with a better view of the place. "You're new here."

They don't have bears like that at home, neither on Gara nor on the version of Earth where Belar currently lives. He'd know.

The Panserbjorn looks towards Belar and nods slowly. "I am."

No sense in denying it, is there? His dark eyes regard the human without any apparent expression, but with an undeniable intensity. He's down on all fours currently, so his head is more or less level with an average man's.

Human isn't precisely the right term, but Belar is using the form and shape of a human just now. He generally does, around here. The gods of his world don't incinerate mortals with their true shape, but that's no reason to be a show-off in a public place, is how he sees it.

"All right, then," Belar says, coming to his feet to make the conversation easier. "My name's Belar. Welcome to Milliways. You're at the end of the Universe, and you're not dead or hallucinating. I can promise you that, for sure."

"Belar" He nods slowly. "I am Iorek Byrnison" A slow look over the Bar finally brings his gaze to the observation window. For a moment, a brief spark of interest lights up in his dark eyes, but then he returns them to Belar and his impassiveness returns. "And the corridor that brought me here seems to have disappeared. Do you know anything about that, Belar?"

The information about his current location doesn't seem to have any utility whatsoever at the moment, so he has just filed it away for further pondering, and turned to more practical matters.

[OOC: Will be here and there for a bit, and so tagging irregularly, but eeeee Iorek.]

Serafina Pekkala can hardly be called a regular at Milliways, but she still steps in occasionally, usually hoping to see Lyra or Will.

She's seated at the bar, Kaisa perched nearby, when the combination of big and fast-moving catches her attention, and she turns toward the door.

A moment later, she's approaching, smiling faintly as she bows with formal grace.

"Greetings, Iorek Byrnison."

(OOC: Warning, because I think I forgot to put it on the OOM at the top. Iorek comes from right after the end of Northern Lights, so the rest of the canon didn't happen for him yet.)

The massive bullet-shaped head bows back to the Witch.

"Serafina Pekkala" There is almost the hint of a smile, not on his face, but the tone of his voice. The Panserbjorne don't much care for humans of witches, but at least the latter are closer to the bears' ways than the humans are. And these two have fought together, which is one of the great bonds for the Armored Bears. "It's good to see a familiar face in this place."

[OOC: Noted--Serafina will be careful not to give anything away. :)]

"Indeed," Serafina agrees, rising. "And I have not seen you in this place before, though I am here infrequently--are you newly arrived here?"

Her tone holds the respect of a former comrade-in-arms as well as the politeness it's always wise to treat panserbjorn with.

"Yes. We were starting to set things right, back to what the Panserbjorne should be, and..." A pause, and he looks towards a certain spot on the wall "Suddenly I was here and the corridor I had been walking along was not."

There's the merest hint of frustration in his tone. And as Panserbjorn and emotional expression go, that should mean he is quite frustrated.
