Over at a table is a sprite on a mission. After all the events of magic that have happened to her at the Bar she's making it a point to read through any textfiles she can find on the subject. Dot's not far through her stack of booksIt's not that she has even so much as a ion of talent for magic in her body, it's that she knows next to nothing on ( Read more... )

It's the sound of rustling pages that wakes Roäc up from his nap in the rafters.

Books.

The big bird likes books.

So much knowledge to be gained.

This means he has to see who's reading and more importantly ask them if they'll share.

Because someone has to turn the pages...

Tis a lady with green skin, pouring over a book of magic and psychic defense, leaned forward in her chair.

Looks to be room for a large raven to perch on the back. Perhaps an introduction is in order?

Well that is unusual. Roäc has never seen a woman with a green complexion before.

"Greetings and well-met," he croaks. "I am Roäc son of Carc. And I don't believe I've seen your kind here before."

"Greetings.." Dot looks up towards the source of the voice. "I am Dot Matrix. A pleasure to meet you. I've only been here for a few months now."

Talking Bird. Talking...Raven if Dot's lessons in biology are any worth. "You'll have to excuse me for staring, I've never seen so many different people before."

Books.

Books?

Books.

Books.

Do not be alarmed, Dot. One of the books in your already-read pile is floating in midair in front of a six-year-old girl's face, turning a page occasionally. She'll learn respect for the property of others one day, the narration is sure. Till then, perhaps you might wish to inquire as to what your book is doing in that position.

Books.

Information.

Dot is absorbed until she tries to cross reference and notices one of her stack is gone. And there it is, in front of a young girl's face.

"Excuse me..."

The book lowers itself into the little girl's hands, and she looks up, confused and then contrite.

"Yes? --Oh, sorry. This is your book." She closes it and hands it over. "Interesting read. I picked it up to have a quick peek and got distracted. I hope I haven't offended you."

"That's alright. I just wanted to cross check a section in there against this one. It's a subject I'm not familiar with and I'd rather have a solid basic understanding as far as magic goes." She picks up the book and offers one from her stack. "You're welcome to some of the others if you like, it just surprised me is all."

Really, Dot doesn't bite for wanting to investigate an itneresting read.

"Were you the one making the book float?"

Tommy's not that keen on the subject of magic, either. He's a scientist, and in any case much of the "magic" he's run across in his life has been Ranger-related and thus easily explained. Bar's own special brand of the stuff, well. He's not sure he would want to understand that.

He leans against the edge of Dot's table and looks curiously down at her stack of books, then picks one up and leafs through it.

"Magic? Don't tell me something's gone this bad in Mainframe..."

The good doctor seems to have forgotten something, a critical oversight we feel, namely that his Dino Power of invisibility is stuck in overdrive. Meaning that his voice is apparently coming from nowhere and there's a book floating in midair, reading itself.

Dot nearly jumps out of her seat staring at the empty space. "What the frag..."

Oh, come now, Dot. Surely his voice sounds familiar at least?

"Yeah, tell me about it," Tommy replies, still absent-minded and clearly misinterpreting Dot's reaction. After all, some of the stuff in these books looks downright weird!

"Where do you even find a cow's bladder?" He gives the page he's reading a look. "It's not like you can just go up to the butcher and ask for one."

"....Tommy???" Dot is staring at the floating book reading itself. "What in the 'Net..."

Yes. It sounds familiar. Care to explain?
