[pre-milliways]

We all are told from when we're little that it's not good to believe in ghosts.
This holds more true in some worlds than in others.  In Milliways, for example, it makes no sense, because half the patrons are deceased, or in various stages of it.  Mostly, that's a pretty death.  A clean death.  An 'oh, I've died, how odd, I think I ( Read more... )

His father figured it wasn't good to believe in them. His mom had other ideas.

And then years later, he was catching them for a living, and even later, found out why he seemed like a bug light to ghosts.

Venkman glanced around. Something was up around here. He had stopped by the stables again to check on his daughter's horsey. Dana ended up suggesting Beauty for the horse. Explains where she got the horse thing from. Her mom was a big fan of horse stories as a little girl.

It was nearly Flicka, but Maria seemed to like the other name more. Still having trouble saying words yet so it sounded more like 'boo-eee."

But now, getting that familiar sense. He looked around some more, slowly walking around.

There's the sighing, still, someone breathing in and out. Which is strange, because does Santi need to breathe?

He's still hiding just inside the trees. Growing less afraid as he pieces together a sort of understanding.

He heard it, continued slowly turning around in a circle, peering around. Sensing.

"Know you're here. Might as well come on out. S'ok. I know your kind." And didn't have a pack with him right now. As long as whoever it was wasn't threatening anybody, he wouldn't have a beef with them.

He steps out of the shadows behind him, and stands there, waiting for Venkman to finish his circle. His fingers are laced, hands clutched nervously.

All his gear was packed and ready for the jump all of the 101st new was coming. George wasn't expecting to be surprised with Milliways one more time since he had already said most of his goodbyes- even if they were done in notes. Which is how the radioman found himself out by the lake taking a chance to catch his breath from the rush one feels before going back into combat.

Luz was hardly paying attention to anything but a spot some distance in the center of the lake when the sighing caught his attention. Blinking a few times he looks around trying to see where it comes from before eyes dart around looking.

"Hello?" he calls out. Noone is out there he's seen so far. "Is someone here?" Slowly his steps start to take him towards the woods.

There's the sort of silence that comes when someone who had been making noise stops very suddenly because they don't want to get caught.

The uniformed man crouches down, kneeling on his right knee just at the edge of the woods. Luz looks left, then right, before speaking again. "I won't hurt ya..not armed. You can come out if ya want too.."

He offers a warm smile as he glance about hopeing that might bring whoever is hideing out.

The reply is a faintly puzzled silence, the faintest glimmer of white.

And then a dart of movement. A child shaped shadow from a tree near the edge to one a little farther back. Shapeless and quicker than it should be.

Enzo doesn't smell blood. He can't, unless it's digital. He may hear a bit of sighing, but it's muffled by his own noises. He has just climbed a quite large tree, and is now crawling out along a branch to see if he can make it onto another branch from a different tree.

So, what does our ghostling look like from above?

Dark hair, white hands clutching at things as he feels his way about, as much as sees. Rustling.

A red stain, standing out against the grey and black. Santi doesn't see Enzo.

Enzo, however, catches Santi out of the corner of his eye. The pallor doesn't bother him at all; he merely takes it as an indication that here is another non-human. The size indicates a child of around his own age. Pixelacious!

"Hey!" Clinging to his branch, he waves.

Santi jumps, terribly startled, and jerks to stare up at him, backing away. From this angle, away, looking up, it's much more clear what Santi is.

...but Enzo, well... he's green.

Miniver doesn't go outside MUCH, especially not with spring approaching, but... he has a very small bird upstairs, and that very small bird needs to be fed, so he's liiking for bugs.

Quite an occupation for a budding young wizard.

He might also be practicing minor charms on twigs. Just, you know, because.

He's around.

He might, in that case, hear a wet sort of shuffle, from just the general area. To see what he's doing. Santi used to look for slugs when he was alive.

Miniver jumps at the sound.

"Hullo?"

Santi doesn't answer.

He becomes, just behind Miniver, out of sight, still watching him. Visible in the light between the trees, if he wants to turn around.
