There's a rock that sits on the edge of the inlet of the lake that William likes since it gets some of the best breezes.

He's done most of his chores and is reading some Jules Verne and enjoying being near so much water.

She giggles, and tickles his shin, looking up into his eyes.

He laughs and keeps turning red, "That tickles."

[areyoumyjolly]

"Yes?" she says, and keeps on doing it.

Soon, he'll bend down towards her...

"Yeah, but feels sort of nice,"

He's never had a woman touch him in such a way, it makes his heart race.

[areyoumyjolly]

She slides up, smoothly, putting her elbows on his knees, smiling into his eyes.

She's suddenly a lot closer and he swallows while trying to figure out what to do.

Should he kiss her? That's what fellows in books would do so he leans forward.

Oh yes! She pulls him down, sinking back into the water.

"Kiss me..."

Franz had been lying on the rock, lazing about while his human is collecting wild garlic in the underbrush.

When the dangerous fish-woman pulls at the boy to whom his master sometimes chats, like a fish-cat hunting, Franz jumps up and races towards them, barking very loudly and launching himself at the fish-cat-woman. She's up to no good!

The barking cuts through William's thoughts and he looks around to see Franz,

"What are you doin'? Don't bark like that."

With one more powerful leap, Franz leaps onto the rock William is sitting on and snarls at the fish-cat-woman. She's hunting the boy!

Urquhart has heard the barking, and realises that it's serious; he drops his basket of wild garlic and comes racing from among the trees, loading his crossbow as he runs.

"Hooooo!" Tamara says, sliding back as the human-pet predator snarls at her.

"What's the matter with that creature?"

"I don't know. Franz, be quiet. She's nice and ain't doin' anythin',"

Franz has placed himself so he's in front of William so he tries to shift him.

[areyoumyjolly]

"It's teeth are smelly!" Tamara says.

Franz doesn't budge.

[scots_wolf]

Urquhart has come up behind William, his crossbow cocked and ready.

"Get away from the boy, mermaid, or the local giant catmonsters will get giantfish to eat tonight!" he orders.

"What are you doin'?!"

He's not sure when he lost control of this situation but he doesn't like it.
