Carriage House Common Room - Thursday Afternoon

Sep 11, 2008 16:05

When the power went out, Sam gathered up all the flashlights and candles he had in his room and made his way down to the common room. It was still light outside, but if the power wasn't restored by dark, people would need some kind of light.

He also checked the cupboards for canned goods, looking for items that could be made on top of the gas

Willow wandered down to the common room since there wasn't much to do. She couldn't even use her computer. That was slightly woeful.

"Hey Sam," she greeted. "Crazy weather, huh?"

"Yeah, definitely," Sam agreed. "And it looks like the power is out all over town. At least I didn't see any lights anywhere when I stood on the front porch."

"Wow," Willow said. "At least it's just a storm and not some kind of apocalypse. Not that it ever happens or anything."

Except on a hellmouth.

Sam eyed her.

"I'm going to be really upset with you if this ends up being the apocalypse."

Dean wandered in, dressed in a police-issue raincoat and lugging a duffel. "Everybody cool in here?"

"Hey, Dean," Sam said. "Yeah, we're well stocked up on candles and flashlights. Plus there's a lot of canned goods here. I think I can whip up a decent enough dinner."

"I should get Jorge the NPC deputy to hand over one of the propane stoves." Dean looked around and shrugged his non-duffel-carrying shoulder. "And Elwood says it's cool to head over to his if you've got a burning need for adult supervision."

"Yeah, I'm sure that'll happen," Sam said. "But I'll let others know if they come in. A propane stove would definitely be cool."

Sam wandered into the common room, figuring it was better than sitting in his room in the dark.

He was also wondering if he could just park Bumblebee outside one of the common room windows and leave the headlights on. What? Robot car, people. Robot car.

"Hey," he greeted. "You need help with anything?"

"Hey," Sam said. "Not at the moment? We've got some supplies here and Willow suggested having a slumber party in the common room."

"That sounds about as good as anything," Sam said. "Keep everybody occupied, at any rate." Because honestly, a bunch of bored teenagers? Not something to let loose on the school.

"And hopefully keep people from freaking out," Sam added.

Jake leaned in the doorway on the way back in from class, looking... a little damp from walking across from the school.

"Preparing for disaster?" he asked.

"What's that old saying? Prepare for the worst and hope for the best?" Sam replied.

Jacob shrugged. "Just saying," he replied.

"You'd think a boarding school, in an area where they get drive-by hurricanes on a yearly basis, would keep a spare generator around. Even we have one back home."

Sam shrugged. "No idea, man. Dean mentioned something about propane stoves. And we've got plenty of candles and stuff."

"Hey, Cassie," Sam said. "You doing okay?"

Sam could probably get some water boiling, if she asked.

"I think we could rustle up some hot water," Sam said. "The burners on the stove are gas. We just need to light them with matches because the igniters are electric."
